Production Manager
Jack Porter is a multidisciplinary design group known for creating immersive brand experiences in the built environment. We are seeking a Production Manager to lead the planning, procurement, and execution of custom-designed experience projects.
This role requires a strategic thinker with technical expertise to bring creative visions to life, coordinate multiple stakeholders (e.g. vendors, general contractors, and of course clients), and ensure seamless project delivery.
ROLE + RESPONSIBILITIES
DESIGN PROCESS • Support the design and production management teams by determining the optimal fabrication and procurement methods.
• Research new technologies and materials to meet design intent.
• Develop project complex budgets and manage them strategically to meet goals.
• Lead collaboration between design, production, and external partners to plan each project.
PROCUREMENT • Review architectural plans, shop drawings, construction documents, and technical specifications to identify coordination issues and ensure proper installation.
• Ensure awareness and adherence to contract documents for projects.
• Lead and/or assist with purchase orders, file releases, and invoice management as needed.
• Oversee quality control through sample reviews, shop/vendor visits, and material inspections throughout the project.
INSTALLATION • Develop and coordinate installation plans with clients, vendors, and other stakeholders (general contractors, trusted partners), managing scheduling, manpower, and logistics.
• Lead on-site installation management to oversee the fabrication process and delivery of finished products.
• Manage punch lists and coordinate resolution of outstanding items.
• Handle multiple complex projects simultaneously, ensuring each stays on track.
• Travel as needed for meetings and projects (25-30%).
SKILLS + REQUIREMENTS
• Relevant industry experience in production or construction management.
• Strategic thinker with strong problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• General knowledge of construction methods and practices.
• Experience in reading and navigating “as-built” and “takeoff” construction plans and documents.
• Proficiency with Asana, Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
• Ability to manage multiple subcontractors, trades, vendors, and logistics carriers.
• Strong under pressure and thrives in a fast-paced stressful environment.
• Ability to build rapport and trust with vendors, clients, and partners.
• Motivated team player with a desire to share knowledge, learn, and help the team grow.
EXTRA CREDIT • Proficiency in AutoCAD and SketchUp.
• Experience with A/V integration.
• Background in custom millwork or exhibit fabrication.
