Automation Technician - Industrial Automation
Location: This position will be based in Greer, SC USA.

Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Automation Technician to join our dynamic team at SAR Automation LP. The ideal candidate will be responsible for installing automation equipment and systems to ensure efficient production processes. This role requires a hands-on approach and a solid understanding of mechanical and electrical aspects of automation systems, along with the ability to read and interpret technical plans and follow safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Installation and Setup:
• Install and configure automation systems, including robots, conveyors, sensors, and PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers).
• Integrate automation equipment with existing production lines and ensure proper functionality.
• Install cable trays, conduits, and wiring systems according to technical specifications.
• Terminate wires and cables to various control and power systems.
Reading and Interpreting Plans:
• Read and interpret e-plans, electrical drawings, and schematics.
• Follow detailed engineering plans and blueprints to execute installations accurately.
• Ensure all installations comply with technical specifications and safety standards.
Compliance and Safety:
• Adhere to safety standards and regulations, including OSHA guidelines and company policies.
• Work in compliance with the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) codes, particularly NFPA 70 (National Electrical Code) and NFPA 79 (Electrical Standard for Industrial Machinery).
• Maintain a safe work environment by following established safety procedures and protocols.
Documentation and Reporting:
• Maintain accurate records of installation activities and equipment configurations.
• Report progress and any issues encountered during installation to supervisors.
• Create and update technical documentation, including wiring diagrams, schematics, and user manuals.
Continuous Improvement:
• Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation enhancements.
• Participate in cross-functional teams to implement Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma initiatives.
• Provide training and support to production staff on the proper use and maintenance of automation equipment.
Qualifications:
• Associate's degree or technical certification in Automation Technology, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in an automation technician role or similar.
• Strong understanding of electrical and mechanical systems, including pneumatics and hydraulics.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, e-plans, schematics, and manuals.
• Working knowledge of NFPA codes and standards.
• Experience in installing cable trays, conduits, and wiring systems.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Good communication and teamwork abilities.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to stand, walk, and work in various industrial environments for extended periods.
• Manual dexterity and the ability to use hand tools and precision instruments.
