Job Description
The Lean Coach -Director is charged with improving the lean thinking and execution capabilities of project teams – spanning front line workers to senior leadership levels. You will be building lean capabilities on projects with complex technical elements, large number of design and construction partners, and distributed execution across the globe. You will be expected to coach and mentor the development of the following competencies primarily:
• Last Planner System, encompassing the following elements
Master Scheduling using Pull Planning
Phase Pull Planning/ Takt Planning
Look Ahead Planning /Make Ready Planning/Takt Planning
Visual management and removal of Constraints
Weekly Work Planning
Daily Huddles of Trade Foreman
Design and development of Visual Production Boards
Daily huddles of Craft workers at the work fronts
Risk Management in Construction
Design of Operations
Application of LPS in Production Design
• Value Stream Mapping when such is necessitated
• Continuous Flow in a heavy industrial construction
• Total Productive Maintenance
• Visual Production management
• 5S

Basic Job Requirements
Basic Job Requirements
• Accredited four (4) year degree or global equivalent in
engineering/technical field.
• Experience ranging from 5 years upwards of intense
application of Lean Methods (listed above) and Kaizen
Activity within Construction. Demonstrated
experience of no less than 8 Events per year.
• Experience ranging from 10 years upwards
of intense application of Lean Methods and Kaizen Activity
with preferred application in Engineering,
Procurement, Fabrication and Construction.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Excellent leadership and decision-making skills
Other Job Requirements
In the capacity of a Lean Coach, you would be required to:
• Coach and mentor Fabrication, Final Assembly and Construction
Leadership/front line staff in lean methods and
improvement techniques.
• Deploy Lean in accordance with the guidance,
framework, methodology & roadmap provided by the
Global Director (Lean Sensei) so that a Fluor wide
transformation is enabled.
• Support the global spread/replication of Lean Methods and Techniques,
in accordance with targets set by the Global Director for
Lean, so that efficiency and productivity gains are
leveraged worldwide.
• Identify and prioritize value stream improvement plans
that are aligned with the goals of Business Line and
project leadership.
• Help define stakeholder expectations and drive the
successful delivery and completion of value stream
improvement plans.
• Develop capabilities at all levels by planning and
imparting Lean skills and knowledge at the work-fronts – Cultural transformation.
• Develop capability at all levels (Frontline, Supervisors
and Senior Management) to practice lean by transference
of skills, knowledge and lean values experientially.
Preferred Qualifications
• Advanced degree (e.g., Master’s degree or global equivalent) in engineering discipline/technical field, or administration area
• Professional engineering registration
Salary Range
135,000 to 250,000
Market Rate
The market rate for the role is typically at the mid-point of the salary range; however, variations in final salary are determined by additional factors such as the candidate’s qualifications, relevant years of experience, geographic location, internal pay equity, and prevailing market conditions for the specific role.
