BATTALION CHIEF
The City of Greer is currently accepting applications for a Battalion Chief in our Fire Department.
Responsibilities: Supervises, directs, and evaluates assigned staff. Provides incident command, supervision, and direction of personnel on emergency scenes where fire suppression, rescue, and life-threatening emergencies are being mitigated. Performs reviews on all incident report documents and incident narratives from assigned shift. Performs weekly reviews of assigned subordinates’ time sheets, ensures all time stamps are accounted for, approving requested leave, and correcting any errors noted. Supervises the general maintenance and upkeep of stations and facilities, vehicle and equipment checks, and minor repairs, and monitors the physical and mental readiness of personnel. Attends and participates in monthly officer/supervisor meeting, training sessions, medical EMT in-service training, and quarterly multi-agency training sessions. Receives, reviews, prepares, and/or submits a variety of reports and documents including monthly statistical shift reports, memorandums, and training reports Works with surrounding fire districts that are contracted to provide fire, rescue, and medical coverage to parts of the City.
Job Requirements: Requires associate degree in Fire Science, Business, Management, Public Administration, or related field. Eight (8) years of experience in fire suppression, fire prevention, and education, of which four (4) years are in a supervisory position. Certified NFPA/IFSAC Firefighter II. National Registry EMT – B. NIMS ICS 100, 200, 300, 400, 700. Fire Officer III; Fire Instructor II; Fire and Life Safety Educator Level I and Car Safety Seat Technician. Must possess and maintain a South Carolina Class E or F driver's license with an acceptable driving history. Blue card certification
Hours: Hours: 24 hour shifts, rotating every third day.
Salary: Minimum salary $72,762 a year, dependent on experience. Eligible for overtime
