Wastewater Treatment Operator
Renewable Water Resources, a special purpose district created for the protection of public health and water resources, is seeking a successful candidate for the following position.
The purpose of the position is to perform skilled technical and manual work in the daily operation and maintenance of ReWa’s Water Resource Recovery Facilities; to prepare and maintain required records and reports, and to perform related work as required. The position works within a general outline of work to be performed and develops work methods and sequences under general supervision.
Essential Skills and Experience:
• Must possess a valid state driver’s license
• Must possess a minimum of an ‘’D’’ Biological Wastewater Operator License
• Must obtain a “C” Biological Wastewater Operator License within one (1) year
• Must possess high school diploma, GED.
• At least one (1) year of experience working at a biological wastewater treatment facility.
Position Responsibilities – Essential:
The tasks listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this position. Management may assign additional tasks related to the type of work of the position as necessary Learns and performs daily plant operations.
• Monitor and perform all daily wastewater treatment plant operations.
• Inspect equipment and process to determine efficiency of operations, maintenance requirements, and cleanliness.
• Start up, shut down, regulate and adjust motors, pumps, compressors, grinders, blowers, valves and other apparatus to meet changing operating conditions; calibrate meters; monitor and adjust chemical rates as necessary.
• Monitor process data; enter data into computer system daily.
• Collect samples and conduct routine laboratory tests; record results; calibrates laboratory equipment.
• Coordinate solids handling procedures.
• Assist in troubleshooting technical and mechanical problems; perform preventive maintenance on equipment; assist with the repair and modification of equipment as needed.
• Advise superiors of unusual operating problems.
• Perform all duties in accordance with policies and procedures, S.C. DHEC and EPA regulations, and all other applicable laws, regulations, and standards of quality and safety.
• Prepare and maintain accurate and complete work records.
• Perform general clerical work as required, including but not limited to preparing reports and records, entering and retrieving computer data, copying and filing documents, answering the telephone, etc.
• Receive and respond to inquiries, requests for assistance and complaints in areas of responsibility.
• Attend meetings, training, seminars, etc., as appropriate to enhance job knowledge and skills.
• Serve on call as scheduled to ensure uninterrupted service for customers.
