Staff Accountant
FUNCTION
The Staff Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records for the Gaming Facility, including preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, and assisting in the preparation of financial statements. The Staff Accountant ensures that financial transactions are recorded in compliance with applicable accounting principles and internal control procedures.
Specific Duties And Responsibilities

• Maintain general ledger by preparing journal entries for daily transactions and adjustments.
• Reconcile accounts, ensuring discrepancies are identified and resolved in a timely manner.
• Assist in preparing financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports.
• Perform monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing procedures.
• Monitor gaming revenue, including processing and posting gaming-related transactions.
• Ensure compliance with internal controls and audit requirements in all financial transactions.
• Assist in the preparation of financial reports for management and regulatory purposes.
• Perform account analysis and assist with budget preparation and variance reporting.
• Work closely with other departments to ensure financial transactions are accurately recorded.
• Prepare and maintain documentation for internal and external audits.
• Assist with tax filings and other regulatory reporting as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.
STANDARDS OF PERFORMANCE
• Available to work when needed, including weekends, holidays, and nights.
Education, Training, And Experience
• A high school diploma or GED equivalent required.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is preferred.
• A minimum of one year of accounting experience, preferably in a Gaming or hospitality environment.
• Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and regulatory requirements in the gaming industry is preferred.
• Experience with accounting software, including Microsoft Excel and accounting systems such as QuickBooks, Oracle, or similar programs.
• Able to obtain and maintain a valid Kentucky gaming/racing license
