Maintenance Supervisor
The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for directing and coordinating the activities of the maintenance and janitorial staff and for compliance and enforcement of safety & environmental programs and other Company policies and procedures. This role is a working supervisor, actively engaged as a maintenance tech in addition to supervisory responsibilities. The supervisor is responsible for the selection, training, and performance management of assigned staff, ensuring that processes operate smoothly and efficiently to maximize machine uptime and minimize unplanned disruption to the manufacturing schedule.

• Adheres to safety guidelines and procedures and holds team accountable to same; proactively identifies job hazards and collaborates with EHS Manager, maintenance personnel, and others to minimize hazards and ensure employee safety
• Sets an example for integrity, communication, and compliance for others in the organization by following policies, communicating professionally, and providing timely responses to internal customers
• Complies with OSHA regulations, safety policies, manufacturing processes, quality standards & procedures, and leader instructions consistently and accepts responsibility for his/her actions and work product; conveys clear directions to employees and holds team accountable for actions and work product
• Trains new employees and mentors skill development during the introductory period for new hires; ensures initial training and periodic re-training for team members is completed as expected
• Attends production meetings and collaborates with internal stakeholders regarding production scheduling, machine downtime, preventive maintenance plans, and quality issues
• Obtains quotes, evaluates vendors and bids, schedules outside services and technicians, and ensures maintenance vendor/visitor compliance with OSHA, ITAR, safety, and other company policies
• Responsible for maintenance of LOTO documentation and instructions for all powered equipment in the facility; coordinates with EHS personnel as appropriate to ensure accuracy of training and procedures; ensures maintenance department compliance with LOTO and other safety programs
• Records information in ERP system and updates other metrics as required; effectively uses maintenance management software
• May be required to drive company vehicles for receiving and/or delivering parts while obeying all city, state, and federal traffic and transport regulations
• Actively works on process improvements for equipment
• Acquires and evaluates quotes, coordinates purchase orders and capex projects as required; qualifies and oversees external vendor representatives and technicians hosted by the maintenance department
• Communicates regularly via phone, email, and in-person with employees across all levels
• Maintains a clean, organized, safe personal work area, holds team accountable for housekeeping and organization of storage and work areas
• Interviews applicants and selects qualified personnel for available roles on the team; complies with regulations and internal processes for recruiting, selection, and recordkeeping
• Regular attendance on-site at the workplace is required
Required Education And Work Experience
• High School diploma or GED equivalent is required
• Vocational training in industrial maintenance or similar technical field is preferred; advanced electrical education and/or certification is desireable
• A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in a machine maintenance field to include troubleshooting & repair of electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic components and CNC equipment & controllers
• Knowledge and experience with Lean, Six Sigma, or similar continuous improvement programs is preferred
Other Required Skills And Abilities
• Valid Driver's license and acceptable safe driving record to meet insurance requirements
• Forklift experience is preferred; forklift certification must be obtained upon hire and maintained throughout employment
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
• ERP or Work Order system experience is preferred
• Self-management skills including efficiency, sense of urgency, ability to adapt and respond to unexpected circumstances, and ability to juggle multiple projects, competing priorities, and meet concurrent deadlines
• Appropriate written and verbal communication skills and consistently legible handwriting (English)
• Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking abilities to handle unexpected challenges appropriately
• Commitment to maintaining confidentiality, securing employee and company records, and demonstrating integrity in communications and actions
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Role

• Regularly stand and walk throughout the facility, sit and/or stand for long periods to perform job duties
• Regularly lift, carry (short distances), and push/pull up to 50 pounds
• Frequently bend, crawl, stoop, squat, or kneel

• Use hands and fingers to perform duties, fine motor skills/dexterity are required
• Visual ability to gauge distances, recognize and avoid obstacles
• Safely operate forklifts, pallet jacks, scissor-lifts or other elevated work platforms, and other material-handling equipment
Working Conditions
Work is performed in a manufacturing environment where working conditions may vary significantly; the employee will be exposed to:
• Moderate Noise (frequently); Excessive noise, hearing protection required (frequently)
• Dust, smoke, fumes/vapors (occasionally); may be required to wear dust mask or respirator as needed
• Extreme temperatures (occasionally)
• Hazardous equipment including forklifts, hand tools, cranes or other lifting devices, and other equipment used in a machine shop environment
• Exposure to power sources and powered equipment (regularly)
The use of PPE, including hearing protection, eye and hand protection, and the use of safety footwear is required.
