Position Summary:
This position is responsible for performing engineering work related to developing custom electrical and control solutions. This position works with a wide range of departments, including Sales, Purchasing, and Manufacturing teams responsible for moving orders from incoming concepts to production solutions. This role also supports Sustaining Engineering topics for existing product models.
Key Accountabilities:
• Develops electrical components, harnesses, and systems (including subsystems) to meet customer requirements and following standard engineering principles and practices.
• Work with Applications and Mechanical Engineering and Sales to clearly understand customer requirements
• Conduct design tasks within standards which includes maintaining a high level of accuracy, completeness
• Serve as key owner of Direct Account customer solution.
• Develop schematics to document As-Built wiring for Custom Electrical designs.
• Organize, manage, and use computer-assisted drawing CAD data and equipment.
• With approval, release parts and subsystems for production.
• Support Continuous Improvement and Sustaining Engineering initiatives.
• Selects correct design concepts and fundamental technology used for new products or improvement of existing products
• Communicate, coordinate and consult with other departments, vendors, and customers.
• Responsible for work progress and to resolve problems to ensure timely completion of projects
• Complete work according to standard engineering principles and practices
• Support production with any Engineering related production issues.
• Promote a compliance culture in area of responsibility and live the letter and the spirit of the Rolls Royce Code of Conduct.
• Perform special projects as required
Basic Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 3 years of electrical engineering experience; or 7 years of electrical engineering experience
• Strong analytical ability
• Basic power systems knowledge
• Self-starter with the ability to work extended periods without supervision
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple priorities and deadlines
• Strong ability to read and interpret line diagrams, ladder diagrams, and point to point diagrams
• Strong ability to read and understand customer specs
• Ability to travel to customer and manufacturing sites
• Computer Skills: AutoCAD LT, AutoCAD electrical, Programming (Programmable Logic Devices), MS Office
Preferred Qualifications:
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Strong ability to work effectively with others
• Good presentation skills
