Janitor - Full Time
The Janitor will provide all services related to the cleaning of assigned facilities to assure an attractive and pleasant environment for all Wesley Commons' residents.
The duties of this position include, but are not limited to:
• Performs diversified cleaning activities to include vacuuming, sweeping, dusting, mopping, stripping, waxing, polishing and sanitizing in order to keep assigned residential and common areas clean and orderly. Handles heavy or difficult cleaning assignments that require moving equipment, standing on a ladder or holding equipment in order to clean.
• Assist the Maintenance Technicians in performing maintenance and preventative activities for all machines for Health Care Center, Independent Living, and Assisted Living, as needed.
• Provides set-up of meeting rooms for scheduled events.
• Removes all trash and litter from assigned areas across campus.
• Cleans bathrooms, kitchen areas, elevators, stairwells, windows and furniture as assigned.
• Assist residents with moves on campus as well as moving small furniture, hanging pictures blinds, curtains, light fixtures, etc.
• Removes snow and ice from building portals as necessary.
• Makes minor repairs. Changes air filters and bulbs on a regularly scheduled basis or as assigned.
• Assist Maintenance Department, as needed.
• Handles special projects or duties as assigned.
Educational
• High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
Professional
• Six months related work experience preferred.
• Must be able to understand and communicate in the English language.
• Must have transportation to be able to work in Independent Living area to get from location to location.
Special Requirements
• Able to bend, squat, and reach overhead.
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs. and push heavy equipment at one-hour intervals without a rest.
• Able to perform manual and sometimes strenuous labor.
• Able to walk or stand for extended periods of time.
• Demonstrates verbal, non-verbal, and written and skills necessary for effective communication.
• Able to handle the different emotions associated with resident and their families.
• Evidence of professional manner and conduct.
• Optimal physical and emotional health.
• Adequate speech and hearing to communicate effectively with residents, families and staff.
• Near and far visual acuity, sense of smell.
• Demonstrates ability to establish and maintain positive and productive working relationships with staff, co-workers, residents, families and volunteers.
