In this function, you will supervise and coach a production team of up to 20 employees in a safety-first 24/7 manufacturing environment. He/she is responsible to plan, execute, and assign work, implement policies and procedures, plus responsible for integration and training of new employees. Drive continuous improvement by reducing cost, reducing waste, increasing efficiencies, and improving quality. This job reports to the Production Manager, Thermoforming/Extrusion. Starting Pay: Annual Salary is based on experience. Shift Time: 7:00 – 7:15. Rotating 12-hour shifts with every other weekend off! RESPONSIBILITIES Follows plant safety procedures and guidelines; wears and utilizes personal protective equipment (PPE) as required. Ensure that production is being performed within specification requirements, according to customer expectations and in a safe and effective manner Follows plant quality practices and ensure compliance with the requirement of Good Manufacturing (GMP), Safe Quality Food (SQF), Safety, and Standards of Conduct policies and procedures. Responsible for following all company Safety, Environmental, and GMP policies and help ensure that all D&W employees follow established policies and procedures. Assumes responsibility for shift’s output, ensuring excellent quality, safety and housekeeping always including scheduled weekends. Pre-plan and manage daily shift operations including work assignments, rotations, supply and movement of raw materials and finished goods. Lead and facilitate shift overlap meetings. Conduct training for safety, process, quality, human resource, and company policies. Review, track and report on production and operating data including production results, downtime, scrap and staffing. Manage incident investigation, care management and applications of corrective actions Provide coverage to opposite shift leadership as needed to support absences and/or vacations. Identify problems in the production process and take corrective action including troubleshooting, coordination with other departments, escalation to members of management and follow through to ensure that the issue reaches resolution. Inspects machines and equipment to ensure specific operational performance and optimum utilization Create a positive work environment by ensuring an “Open Door” culture and fostering the positive exchange of ideas. Assists in the creation/administration of detailed employee work schedules to maximize production. Revises production schedules and priorities as business needs dictate. Writes, trains employee’s on, and implements standard work. Motivates and supports shift personnel keeping clear and accurate records of performance, attendance, and safety. Participate in the performance management process through positive reinforcement, goal-setting and disciplinary action in conjunction with human resources and plant management. Track employees work time including the maintenance of timecards, attendance records, paid and unpaid time off request management and coordination for adequate shift coverage. Develop employees for next level opportunities to ensure your and their progression within the organization. Compiles, stores, and retrieves production data Performs other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS High School Diploma and a minimum of 5 years’ extrusion or thermoforming experience in a leadership or supervisor position preferably in a manufacturing or production environment. Bachelor’s degree and 2 years’ extrusion or thermoforming experience as a Production Supervisor is highly preferred. Knowledge of the Plastics Industry processes and equipment, specifically extrusion and thermoforming strongly preferred. Stand and walk for prolonged periods of time/constantly. Sit occasionally. Knowledge of raw material and production supplies utilized in the production of finished goods. Strong communication skills both written and verbal and excellent organization and interpersonal skills. Experience with timekeeping systems, knowledge of MS Office and familiarity with database applications. Willingness to provide coverage to opposite shift leadership as needed to support absences and/or vacations. Basic understanding of plastic physical properties and behaviors Must be able to make good decisions in a high-pressure environment. Excellent computer skills, extremely people-centric, and production metric driven. Qualifications
