Summary: Nelson Achievers Lab (NAL) is for students taking online college classes.  Classes are from Virtual Virginia, UVA, PVCC, Nova, CVECC, Gradpoint & Economics & Personal Finance (EPF).  Others if needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
• Take roll everyday and if student is absent for more than a few days make sure they have been logging into their classes and keeping up with assignments.
• Supervise students in lab.  4 blocks of students taking various classes so the total number of students can be as high as 100.
• Instruct students on how to navigate their particular college websites.
• Make sure all students have logins and passwords.
• Keep book lists currant for all classes.
• Monitors student’s progress with professors via email or phone calls if necessary.
• Make sure students are quiet and respectful of other’s working.  Not all students have work at the same time.  Some have completed weeks assignments and some might be testing.  They are allowed to talk as long as it does not interfere with another students concentration on their studies.
• Keep files for all AP & DE classes with passwords and professor’s instructions for testing.
• Must put passwords in for all quizzes and tests.  Exams if on paper must be either scanned or faxed back to testing center.
• Report problems with computers to tech immediately so students can continue to work.
• Discipline students when needed.
• Supervise students that have been assigned to G Block to help catch up on missed work.  All students are welcome to use the lab during this time.
• Input grades into PowerTeacher for report cards.
• Enter discipline into Power School for Administration.

Education and/or Experience:
Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills:
Knowledge of Windows based operating system and  Internet usage.  Knowledge of use and hook up of computer equipment.

The noise level in this environment is usually moderate.
Terms of Employment:
Ten (10) month (1456 hrs, 182 days, 8 hrs/day).  Grade 8.
Salary and work year to be established by the School Board.
