Public Services Reference Librarian
Working Hours: Working hours for this position during the terms/semesters of an academic year consist of 37.5 hours per week, including a 7.5 hour period between the hours of 12:00 pm and 9:00 pm Monday through Thursday and 9:00 am and 6:00 pm on Friday; exclusive of a ½ hour or 1 hour dinner. Working hours for this position during term/semester breaks when the library may change its schedule will consist of 37.5 hours per week, including a 7.5 hour period between the hours of 9:00 am and 6:00 pm Monday through Friday; exclusive of a ½ hour or 1 hour lunch. These hours to be agreed upon between the supervisor and employee at the onset of employment. Note: This position may require working additional hours on occasion with the employee having the option of working this time in addition to or in lieu of regular hours.
Summary: This position is responsible for providing reference and information literacy instruction services on-campus in evenings, off-campus, and remotely/online as needed; coordinating the Library’s public services, including interlibrary loan services; Library marketing efforts; Library internal portal and social media accounts; print, film, electronic Reserves including the Library of Things collection; and services for off-campus programs including online and Dual Enrollment students, staff, and faculty.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
• Provide in-person and remote reference services for the College’s on-campus, off-campus, Dual Enrollment, and online students, staff, and faculty in accordance with the library’s reference guidelines primarily in the evening hours.
• Serve as the contact for library services for community education, Dual Enrollment, and online students, faculty, and staff.
• Provide information literacy instruction in person, off-campus, or online as needed for the College’s on-campus, Dual Enrollment, and online students, faculty, and staff.
• Provide interlibrary loan services using the national OCLC system and Commonwealth Libraries of Pennsylvania Share It system.
• Coordinate the cataloging and circulation of the print, film, and electronic Reserves collection including the Library of Things.
• Use library marketing techniques to promote library resources, services, and events in print, online in the Library portal, and through social media.
• Assist in the creation of library information literacy instructional materials and public services assessments.
• Assist Service Desk staff as needed including giving direction to student staff.
• Participate in the development of the Library’s book, film, periodical, and online database collections.
• Serve as a liaison between the Library and a designated Academic Division.
• Serve on college committees as assigned by the Dean of Library Services and Learning Resources.
• Maintain a thorough knowledge of the Library and College policies and procedures and enforce them as needed.
• Pursue professional development through reading professional literature, participating in professional organizations, and attending appropriate seminars and conferences.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Required
Education and/or Experience:
• Master’s degree in library science / information science from an American Library Association (ALA) accredited institution.
• Minimum of one year of recent experience in an academic library public service and/or reference position including providing reference services remotely and/or online.
• College-level experience providing information literacy instruction.
• Experience with circulation modules in an integrated library software system.
• Experience with cataloging modules in an integrated library software system.
• Experience with OCLC and Pennsylvania Share It interlibrary loan software.
• Experience with library websites and portals, social media, physical and virtual displays, and library marketing techniques.
• Experience with Windows-based computer programs including word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, and design programs.
Preferred
• College-level teaching experience.
• Experience with assessment tool design.

Travel: Position may require travel to secondary institutions; employee must have access to ready transportation.
Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual must have knowledge of internet, word processing, presentation, spreadsheet, and publishing software, as well as library cataloging and circulation software.
