Medical Assistant We are looking for an experienced Medical Assistant to join our fast-paced, OB/Gyn team. This a full-time position offering competitive pay and benefits. Our office is located in the Arrowhead/North Peoria area. Medical Assistant Job Responsibilities: Verifies patient information by interviewing patient, recording medical history, and confirming purpose of visit. Prepares patients for examination by performing preliminary physical tests; taking blood pressure, weight, and temperature; and reporting patient history summary. Maintains medical supplies inventory and performing preventive maintenance to keep medical equipment operating. Assist providers with office procedures. Secures patient information and maintains patient confidence by completing and safeguarding medical records; familiarity with diagnostic coding and procedure coding; and keeping patient information confidential. Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations. Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock and verifying receipt. Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, performing preventive maintenance, and calling for repairs. Serves and protects the practice by adhering to professional standards; facility policies and procedures; and federal, state, and local requirements. Enhances practice reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments. Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading professional publications. Medical Assistant Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of medical office procedures and process Knowledge of clinical equipment, supplies, and instruments Understanding of documentation required for physician office visits Knowledge of the policies and procedures of a clinic sufficient to provide effective and superior patient care. Abilities Ability to obtain vital signs and record them correctly and recognize normal versus abnormal. Ability to use medical equipment, supplies and instruments. Ability to understand and carry out written, oral and/or graphic instructions. Ability to multi-task, manage details and organize efficiently and effectively Ability to read, interpret, and apply policies and procedures. Ability to set priorities among multiple requests. Ability to interact with patients, medical and administrative staff, effectively. Ability to use EMR, other relevant computer hardware and software, telephone, copier, fax and other standard medical office equipment. Must be familiar with able other medical office devices such as autoclave and hysteroscope.
