JOB DESCRIPTION: The Chef functions as a member of the kitchen team to ensure that all food-related and cleanliness needs for the kitchen are met. The Chef operates under the supervision of the Kitchen Manager. The Chef is also responsible for cooking, performing inventory checks, and maintaining cleanliness and compliance with food sanitation requirements. The Chef must be able to communicate with the client population, administrative staff, and other team members. JOB DUTIES: Operate in a kitchen in compliance with all requirements of State and Federal Laws (including DHEC R.61-25). Cook food items by grilling, frying, sautéing, and other cooking methods to specified recipes and standards. Perform inventory checks and complete food storage logs. Communicate supply needs to Kitchen Manager. Keep temperature records on all refrigerators and freezers. Maintain cleanliness and comply with food sanitation requirements by properly handling food and ensuring correct storage. Clean and sanitize cooking surfaces at the end of the shift. Function as a member of the kitchen team. Perform duties independently, taking a proactive approach to difficult situations, and seek Kitchen Manager’s input on an as-needed basis. Communicate effectively with staff, clients, independent contractors, and vendors. Follow directions and instructions. Have good organizational skills. Have good interpersonal skills. Have accuracy and speed in executing tasks. Demonstrate objectivity and maturity under stress and respond positively to changing situations in the workplace. Perform in a professional manner and model a positive image. Understand and adhere to legal guidelines pertaining to patient confidentiality and patient rights.
