SUMMARY: The Unit Secretary reports to the Director of Nursing and receives supervision from the Director of Nursing and Clinicial Care Manager and is responsible for assisting the medical staff by performing a variety of clerical tasks that ensure efficiency of the patient care unit. The ward clerk provides a variety of services to the patients, medical staff and management staff of the facility. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Perform a variety of clerical tasks. · Performs receptionist duties, answer telephones, receives new patients, directs visitors, and provides patient information to medical staff. · Assembles and maintains patient charts from admission to discharge. · Receives and records telephoned laboratory and diagnostic results and notifies appropriate medical staff of he results. · Transcribes, verifies, and follows-up on physician orders. · Processes patient orders, requests for examinations and other ancillary services, such as x-rays, laboratory tests and transportation. · Coordinates patients admissions, transfers, and discharges. · Maintains nursing and medical files. · Maintains office equipment for the patient care unit. · Orders patient care and unit supplies. Receives, stores, and distributes unit supplies in accordance with established policies and procedures. · Perform other duties as assigned. Perform duties in a safe manner and comply with established policies and procedures. · Perform all duties in compliance with established safety and infection control policies and procedures. · Actively participate in fire, safety and disaster preparedness drills. · Maintain safe working conditions and practices and follow established safety regulations in the use of equipment and supplies. · Promptly report unsafe or malfunctioning equipment to the Director of Nursing Job Type: Full-time Benefits: 401(k) matching Health insurance Paid time off Schedule: 8 hour shift Monday to Friday Weekends as needed Application Question(s): Are you fully vaccinated for COVID-19?
