The STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) Coordinator is responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting innovative STEAM programs within the PreK-12 curriculum. This role focuses on integrating Career and Technical Education (CTE) and Fine Arts, creating interdisciplinary learning experiences that encourage creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills among students. The STEAM Coordinator works closely with teachers, administrators, and community partners to ensure the programs align with district goals, state standards, and industry trends.
Key Responsibilities
• Program Development and Implementation:
• Design and implement a comprehensive STEAM curriculum that integrates CTE and Fine Arts across grade levels.
• Develop lesson plans, instructional resources, and project-based learning experiences aligned with state standards and industry requirements.
• Collaborate with subject matter experts to enhance course content and ensure up-to-date practices in STEAM fields.
• Curriculum Integration and Support:
• Collaborate with teachers to incorporate STEAM principles into existing curricula and facilitate interdisciplinary projects.
• Provide training and ongoing professional development to staff to ensure effective integration of STEAM and hands-on learning approaches.
• Ensure curriculum accessibility and adaptability for diverse learners, including English Language Learners and students with special needs.
• Student Engagement and Enrichment:
• Create engaging opportunities for student participation in STEAM-related clubs, competitions, and community events.
• Foster a creative and supportive learning environment where students can explore their interests and develop skills in both CTE and Fine Arts.
• Promote equity and inclusion, ensuring that all students have access to STEAM resources and opportunities.
• Community and Industry Partnerships:
• Establish and maintain partnerships with local businesses, universities, and community organizations to support CTE and Fine Arts initiatives.
• Coordinate guest speakers, field trips, and internship opportunities to connect students with real-world STEAM applications.
• Seek and manage grants and funding sources to enhance STEAM program offerings and resources.
• Assessment and Evaluation:
• Develop and oversee assessment methods to evaluate student progress, program effectiveness, and alignment with district goals.
• Use data to identify areas for improvement and adapt the curriculum and program activities accordingly.
• Prepare reports for district administrators on program success, outcomes, and needs.
• Administrative and Logistical Support:
• Manage budgets for STEAM, CTE, and Fine Arts resources, ensuring responsible and equitable allocation.
• Coordinate scheduling, materials procurement, and facility use to support seamless program delivery.
• Serve as a liaison between the district, school sites, and external partners to ensure cohesive program implementation.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Education, STEM, Fine Arts, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years of teaching experience in a PreK-12 setting, ideally with STEAM or CTE focus.
• Knowledge of current trends and best practices in STEAM, CTE, and Fine Arts education.
• Strong organizational, project management, and communication skills.
• Experience with curriculum development, interdisciplinary teaching, and integrating technology in the classroom.
• Ability to work collaboratively with educators, administrators, students, and community partners.
Preferred Skills
• Familiarity with state and national standards in STEAM, CTE, and Fine Arts education.
• Experience in grant writing and program funding.
• Proficiency in using educational technology and digital tools for student engagement and learning.
Working Conditions
• Full-time position within a PreK-12 educational setting.
• Some travel may be required for field trips, professional development, and community outreach activities.
