Position Information:
The Parts Advisor sells parts to all available customers, over the counter at retail or wholesale, through the shop, internally to the New or Used Sales Departments, to the Recondition Department, or on the phone.
Responsibilities include inventory stocking, ordering, specifying and sourcing parts.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Assist walk-in customers in selecting required parts, suggest companion requirements, offer specials, and ensure that the customer is exposed to the full product line.
• Remove purchased parts from inventory.
• If the part is not in stock, determine availability and submit an order if requested by the customer.
• Answer phone calls, providing price quotes, availability, and other information as necessary.
• Help set-up orders for daily shipment, delivery, or pick-up.
• Verify "will call" and "backorder" files weekly and return to vendors, or stock those items not required.
• Solicit assigned accounts by phone.
• Assist service technicians in selecting parts needed for repairs in process.
• Order parts not in stock if Service Advisors determine that parts are needed and will be used upon receipt or that the customer will return for the required repairs.
• Sign and date repair estimates or repair orders to verify that parts will be ordered when it is determined by Service Advisors that parts need to be ordered.
• Notify Service Advisors and customers that ordered parts have been received.
• Answer parts phones as necessary promptly.
• Be friendly, professional, and efficient when working with all customers on the phone and in person.
• Provide a high level of service to all customers and team members.
• Issue credit for parts returned, ensuring that the original invoice, or its number, is available so that the purchase and pricing can be verified. Exceptions must be approved by the Parts Manager.
• Ensure that all charge sales are signed by the customer.
• When making tax exempt sales ensure that the customer has an account on file at the dealership. If the customer does not have an account we cannot use tax exempt status until tax exempt number is verified by the Office Manager.
• Replenish assigned inventory daily.
• Participate in all training programs that are made available.
• Participate in maintaining a Lost Sale Tracking program.
• Participate in and attend department and employee meetings.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or the equivalent. Ability to read and comprehend instructions and information. Vocational or Trade school training in parts or automotive repair. Professional personal appearance. Ability to work well with the public, sometimes with several customers at a time. Will be required to wear a dealership provided uniform or adhere to a dealership dress policy.
Working Conditions:
This is a physically demanding position. Will move throughout the parts shelves and bins all day, reaching and climbing to obtain parts from inventory. Will stand six to eight hours during a shift at the counter. When delivering parts to the service department or recondition department, will be exposed to noise, dust, vibration, exhaust fumes, paint, and other hazardous and nonhazardous materials.
Pay commensurate with experience.
