The Director of Dining Services is a dynamic position that is responsible leading the Dining Services department, as well as for the coordination and management of all aspects of the dining program for senior adults, residents and staff in both the Independent Living and Health Services Center areas. This position will ensure that our residents and their families are served excellent and nutritious meals in an efficient and friendly fashion. The Director is responsible for managing budgets, ensuring and maintaining safety standards, including safe handling and storage of food items and collaborating to create a menu that appeals to the palates of those we serve. This role is responsible for providing strong, positive leadership to motivate and encourage all Dining Service employees. In this guest facing role you will need to have strong customer service and interpersonal skills to be successful. The ideal candidate will use leadership, critical thinking, and customer service skills to: Ensure the effective and efficient operation of all Dining Service venues – including kitchens, dining rooms, etc. Create dietary menus that deliver high quality and nutritious meals for residents at all levels of care Ensure customer satisfaction by providing a superior dining experience Ensure excellent employee retention through coaching & training The ideal applicant should have the following minimum qualifications: A Caring Heart and a Passion for serving Senior Adults. Demonstrated experience in supervising large scale dining operations preferably in a Long Term Care, Hospital or other health care setting is required. Degree in Culinary Arts or similar field. Minimum five (5) years experience in food service management, culinary arts or similar field. Certified Dietary Manager (CDM). ServSafe certification. Strong & solid knowledge of both Skilled Nursing and Assisted Living regulations. Proven ability to lead employees in a positive, productive manner. Excellent interpersonal skills. Analytical & problem-solving skills. Strong ability to manage, multi-task and communicate effectively. Strong project management skills. Experience with creating, monitoring and managing budgets. Proficiency in Microsoft Office software. Dietary Menu/meal planning software. Additionally, experience working in a Life Planned Community, continuing care retirement community, and/or Assisted Living facility is strongly preferred.
