Presbyterian Homes of Georgia is currently seeking an experienced professional to serve as the Activities Director to serve our Independent Living residents at our Athens campus. The Activities Director is a dynamic position that is responsible for developing, supervising and conducting quality activity programs, services and events associated with the senior adult lifestyle within the community. Responsibilities Overview (Not All Inclusive) Creates, supervises and conducts quality activity programs, services and events. Engages with senior residents in a positive and supportive manner Conducts and carries out various activity programs, services and events for and with independent living residents Completes any necessary activity documentation, reports, etc. Manages activity schedules, newsletters and communications, vendor and senior resources schedules and events. Able to assist with transportation services of residents to activities, events, etc. by driving company vehicles Candidates will need to have the ability and flexibility to work some holidays, limited nights, and weekends outside of normal business hours (8am - 5pm Monday through Friday) Creates a sense of community between residents, staff, and guests. Builds and maintains relationships with surrounding organizations, churches, and businesses in the local area. Activity programs can include, but are not limited to, activity clubs, social hours, field trips, cultural events, hiking trips, continuing education opportunities, holiday celebrations, etc. This position may also engage and interact with the Director of Activities for Health Services and the senior adults from Skilled Nursing, Assisted Living, and Memory Care. About You As an important member of Presbyterian Village’s team, the Activities Director will have a positive, energetic and outgoing personality. Caring for the wellbeing of senior adults requires empathy, patience, and kindness. With the main goal of creating a healthy and happy community at Presbyterian Village Athens, the Activities Director will put the residents first by helping to plan and conduct fun, engaging, and interactive activity programs. A strong work ethic and exceptional customer service skills are required in order to carry out activity programs that entertain and stimulate senior adults. Multi-tasking is a daily necessity. The ideal applicant should have the following minimum qualifications. Previous experience in an Activities role or similar position Associates Degree/Bachelor's Degree is preferred Two years of experience developing & conducting social/recreational programs within the past five years, one of which was full-time in a patient activities program in a health care or Independent Living setting. Ability to design, create and implement engaging and interactive activity programs to entertain and stimulate senior adults. Excellent writing and documentation skills Excellent interpersonal communication and public speaking skills Excellent analytical & problem-solving skills The ability to work independently, as well as in a team or group setting Experience working with social media, computers and other technology resources Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Valid driver's license (along with a good driving record) As an important member of Presbyterian Village’s team, the Activities Director will help to implement Presbyterian Homes of Georgia’s ongoing philosophy and strategy as a Christian based organization that provides exceptional care and services for senior adults.
