Job Summary Recognizes, manages, and rehabilitates injuries to professional, amateur, and recreational athletes. Minimal clinic responsibility. # Job Responsibilities Prepares athletes for practice or competition. Evaluates and manages injuries and determines whether a referral is necessary. Event coverage as directed by the practice manager. Maintains a medical file on each athlete and acts as a liaison between the physician and the athlete. Implements treatment and rehabilitation programs under the supervision of a physician. Develop plans for providing athletic training coverage at all interscholastic athletic events identified in Athletic Training Program Coverage Policy. Establish and maintain a budget for athletic training supplies/equipment. Establish daily hours of operation for the athletic training facility. Develop comprehensive venue and condition specific emergency action plans. Establish a working relationship with a designated team physician and community physicians. Maintain athletic training program policies and procedures manual. Provides direct coverage for games and practices as described in school contract. Qualifications Bachelor#s degree or higher in Athletic Training required upon hire OR Bachelor#s degree or higher in related field required upon hire No experience required ATC - Licensed as an Athletic Trainer in the state of Kentucky required upon hire AND BLS - Certified as a Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider required within 90 days of employment in this position OR Heartsaver CPR AED required within 90 days of employment in this position Skills and Attributes Applied Knowledge: Athletic trainers must have knowledge about a large range of medical problems. Assessment and evaluation skills and working with other healthcare professionals will be needed. Must have the ability to organize, prioritize and perform multiple tasks with little or no supervision. Decision-Making Skills: Ability to think critically and make independent decisions regarding the assessment, treatment, rehabilitation and return to play decisions per state licensure guidelines. Attention to Detail: should be thorough and detailed with injury tracking and documentation. Interpersonal Skills: Ability to communicate effectively in high stress/pressure situation when talking to patients, medical professionals, staff and families.
