Surveillance Operator
The Surveillance Operator monitors the gaming floor and associated areas using video cameras, computer screens, monitors, digital recorders, access control systems, computer dispatch, video printers, switches, selectors, and direct observation to ensure compliance with all laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.
Job Summary: Surveillance Operator
Responsibilities
• Monitor guests and employees in all back-of-house and front-of-house areas using the surveillance system and personal observation to identify criminal activities or violations of regulations, policies, and internal controls.
• Utilize necessary equipment to record and document illegal or unusual activities, reporting findings to the appropriate personnel.
• Oversee all areas of the property, including the gaming floor, cage activity, food and beverage areas, and overall facility security.
• Produce timely written reports and logs of any observed violations or illegal activities.
• Record questionable activities on video and prepare written reports for appropriate personnel.
• Monitor activities in and around the gaming establishment using various surveillance equipment, including video cameras, digital recorders, and access control systems.
• Check for blind spots, camera outages, or tampering.
• Log all observations into the surveillance dispatch log.
• Operate all surveillance equipment, including camera switching and computer systems.
• Manage the surveillance dispatch system for all calls to security, police, fire, and maintenance personnel during emergencies.
• Maintain familiarity with Owensboro Racing and Gaming department procedures and uphold confidentiality guidelines.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Regulatory And Compliance Responsibilities
• Attend required training sessions.
• Obtain and maintain necessary licenses.
• Comply with local laws and regulations in all duties performed.
• Ensure minors are not permitted to gamble, drink alcohol, or purchase tobacco.
• Understand the ordinances, regulations, and procedures relevant to the department.
• Be knowledgeable about programs addressing problem gaming.
• Report any known wrongdoing.
Education, Training, And Experience
• Minimum of 1 year of related experience.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Kentucky state gaming license.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage crowds effectively.
• Proficient in computer skills, including email, word processing, spreadsheets, and database management.
• Basic knowledge or training in investigations.
• Ability to communicate via two-way radio.
• Capacity to sit for long periods.
• Work environment may involve viewing video monitors in low light.
• Able to lift and carry up to 30 pounds.
• Available to work a flexible schedule, including some holidays and weekends.
Physical Demands
• The employee must be able to perform essential functions, including sitting, standing, walking, using hands, reaching, climbing, stooping, kneeling, and communicating.
• May be required to lift, push, and pull up to 25 pounds.
• Work environment may be moderate to loud, with exposure to smoking areas.
