JOB TITLE: PM Laundry Attendant REPORTS TO: Laundry Supervisor Housekeeping Director Assistant Housekeeping Manager BASIC PURPOSE: Process soiled linen and distribute clean linen in accordance with standard operating procedures. In addition, the Laundry Attendant is expected to assist the Housekeeping operations as directed by department management and/or supervisors ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Receive and sort soiled linen into appropriate containers. Process sorted linen utilizing the washers, dryers, sheet spreaders, ironers, and feeder/folders ensuring finished product is inspected and meets quality standards. Assist Housekeeping operations as directed by department Director, Assistant Manager or Supervisor. Duties may include, but are not limited to: cleaning of guest rooms, public restrooms and public areas, delivery of amenities such as linens, refrigerators and microwave ovens, and making of and delivery of roll-away beds. Maintain constant communication with Front Desk personnel regarding needs of guests. Respond to guests needs as requested by Front Office Manager or Supervisor, in lieu of direction from department Director, Assistant Manager, or Supervisor. Provide turn down service in guest rooms as directed. Politely and respectfully respond to guest requests and questions. Report guest issues, complaints and/or concerns to department supervisor. Maintain assigned work area in an organized, clean and safe condition. Notify supervisor of malfunctioning equipment, supplies needed, damaged linens, to ensure laundry operation is running at maximum efficiency level. Perform other duties and tasks as assigned by department supervisory personnel, General Manager, or other hotel Executive Committee members JOB QUALIFICATIONS : To perform this job, the individual must be able to perform each essential duty successfully. Knowledge/Experience: Experience in hotel laundry operation is strongly preferred but not essential. Prior housekeeping experience preferred. Abilities: The ability to work well with a team as well as work individually without constant supervision. Ability to work a flexible schedule as well as weekends and holidays. Ability to multi-task in a high-paced environment. Ability to read, speak, understand, and write English. Must be flexible with changes in work environment. Ability to remain calm and professional at all times. Ability to make quick decisions and possess good judgment. Ability to push 100 pounds on wheels. Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds for 50 feet. Ability to kneel, bend and reach repeatedly in an eight hour period Ability to stand on feet for eight hours consecutively. Education or Formal Training: High school diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience preferred Hospitality industry/housekeeping experience preferred Material and Equipment Directly Used: Laundry/Cleaning chemicals Cleaning equipment Laundry and/or Housekeeping Carts Working Environment/Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Salary: $13.00 - $14.50 an hour
