Job Summary: The Industrial Coatings Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for industrial coatings projects, including surface preparation, application of coatings, and protective systems. The role requires a thorough understanding of industrial coatings, the ability to read and interpret blueprints, and excellent communication skills to work with clients, project managers, and suppliers. The Estimator will develop estimates for both new and existing projects across various industries, ensuring projects are profitable and meet client specifications. Key Responsibilities: Analyze project specifications, blueprints, and other documents to prepare detailed cost estimates for industrial coatings projects. Work closely with project managers, engineers, and contractors to gather necessary information and ensure estimates reflect actual project requirements. Identify materials, labor, and equipment needed to complete the project and prepare cost breakdowns. Develop cost estimates for surface preparation (blasting, cleaning, etc.) and application of industrial coatings (epoxies, urethanes, polyureas, etc.). Use estimating software and manual calculations to prepare bids and proposals. Collaborate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing for materials and services. Present estimates and proposals to clients and negotiate contract terms when necessary. Monitor project progress and make necessary adjustments to estimates to reflect any changes or unforeseen conditions. Stay updated on industry trends, material costs, and best practices in industrial coatings. Assist with post-project evaluations to ensure accuracy of estimates and improve future estimating processes. Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards and regulations. Qualifications: Proven experience as an estimator, preferably in industrial coatings or a related field. Strong knowledge of industrial coating systems and surface preparation techniques. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical documents. Proficiency with estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, PlanSwift, or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite. Strong analytical and mathematical skills to accurately estimate costs. Excellent communication and negotiation skills to work effectively with clients, vendors, and team members. Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills. Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Understanding of relevant safety regulations and environmental standards. Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field (preferred but not required). 3-5 years of experience in industrial coatings estimating or a related area. Knowledge of coatings materials (epoxy, urethane, zinc, etc.) and their applications. Experience with industrial environments such as manufacturing plants, power plants, refineries, and similar facilities is a plus.
