Advanced Center for Orthopedics & Sports Medicine Job Description: Occupational Therapist Title Occupational Therapist Main function An Occupational Therapist (OT) provides a variety of medical services to help individuals who have been injured or physically affected by illness to recover or improve function. An occupational therapist must be able to evaluate a patient’s condition and devise a customized physical rehabilitation and treatment plan. The OT’s goal is to develop, maintain and restore maximum movement and functional ability, in order to maximize quality of life. These professionals must exercise professional conduct as outlined in the American Occupational Therapy Association Code of Conduct and follow all state laws and regulations as outlined by the Kentucky Occupational Therapy Association. Duties and responsibilities Utilize basic office equipment including, but not limited to: phone, copy machine, facsimile, computer, and other rehabilitation equipment inherent in the delivery of outpatient care Perform evaluations, reassessments, and treatment sessions in a competent manner Supervise COTAs and support staff Document care provided in an efficient and effective manner Participate in staff training and quality improvement initiatives Maintain licensure and advance knowledge through continuing education Provide exemplary patient care Qualifications- Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities Proficient in the use of documentation and scheduling software Proficient in the use of email and Microsoft Word Ability to work effectively and collaboratively within and across teams and disciplines. Skilled in written and verbal communication. Demonstrate basic keyboarding and computer skills. Requirements Required Graduate of an accredited OT program with at least a Bachelor’s degree in occupational therapy.
