The Assistant Store Manager reports to both the Bakery Manager and Sales Manager and assists in the operation of the retail side of the bakery. The Assistant Manager assists in managing the running of the store front. This position has four main priorities. They are Sales, Customers, Team, Storefront. Tasks in these priorities may include, but are not limited to: Sales: · Making sure all orders are correct and on the correct dates, following/setting/implementing/documenting procedures to ensure there are little to no errors on customer orders. · Manages large volume days, orders, and customer flow (holidays, etc.); tracking numbers for night crew. · Keeping inventory of products and supplies, organizing where supplies are kept, notifying Manager when items are low. · Dating/Timing/Rotating products and controlling shrink. · Tracking expiration dates and implementing sales and promotions to move product. Promoting sales and new products in store and on social media platforms. · Tracking trends and reporting these to the Manager to increase and drive sales. · Handles large event orders and communicates with Bakery and Sales Managers; promotes special occasions and holidays, communicating deals and cutoff dates in store and on social media. · Keeping track of extra coin rolls and money packs in the safe and replenishing as needed. · Tracks donations. · Running the Point-of-Sale (POS) system, fixing and troubleshooting issues with the POS. · Schedules posts, events, etc., on social media accounts to drive foot traffic and sales. · Seeks, generates, and creates new and creative ideas. Customers · Assisting clerks with customers and handling any issues. · Provide exceptional customer service – making decisions that put the customer first but do not hurt the Company. · Always looking for ways to improve the customer experience. · Communicates cut-off dates for orders to wholesale and standing order customers (holidays, etc). · Answers phones as needed and takes orders, communicating large orders and business orders to Manager/Sales Manager Team · Manage and supports team members; assigns monthly schedule, tracks schedule changes. · Training and Re-training of team members, Directing and Motivating team members. · Documents new procedures, or changes to procedures, and trains to these procedures. · Fills in for other clerks when they call out. · Supports Manager during busy times and when Manager is gone. · Adheres to all requirements of state and federal law in food handling, hygiene, and storage. · An advocate and champion for changes that take place at the Bakery. · Able to influence and motivate team members in a positive way. · Follows all policies and procedures, sets a good example for the other team members. Storefront · Making sure product is presentable, monitoring expiration dates, restocking as needed. · Orders milk, soda and coffee supplies, verifies all deliveries, and puts supplies away. · Making payments to suppliers using the Cash In/Cash Out and keeping receipt of payments made. · Responsible for the overall appearance and cleanliness of the storefront, including the restrooms. · Other duties as assigned. Qualifications and Education Requirements High School diploma/GED is preferred. At least 2 years’ experience in managing people. Experience with social media platforms required. Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel. Basic to Intermediate math skills. Flexible and able to adapt to new and changing situations. Must be able to work unsupervised. Able to work as part of a team and build trust. Able to influence and motivate team members. Must have excellent communication skills, time management skills, and customer service skills. Able to hold all information gathered as confidential. Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment. Must be respectful, honest, and handle multiple tasks at once. Is accountable, with excellent problem-solving skills. Pays high attention to detail. Experience working as a leader in a team environment is preferred. Ability to read, write and speak in English is required. Must be able to stand for up to 8-10 hours at a time, able to reach with hands and arms, stretch, bend, lift up to 25lbs, and talk and hear.
