QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum high school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent. Associates degree in business or accounting preferred. Two years of payroll accounting experience preferred. Knowledge of MUNIS software preferred. REPORTS TO: Payroll Bookkeeper and Finance Officer/Treasurer JOB GOAL: To assure the smooth operation of all the Board’s obligations as related to payroll and other financial matters as assigned. CRITICAL SKILLS/EXPERTISE REQUIRED: KNOWLEDGE OF: Principles and techniques involved in payroll preparation, monitoring and control. Practices and procedures of payroll record-keeping and filing. Modern office practices, procedures and equipment. Applicable sections of Kentucky Administrative Regulations and other applicable laws. Interpersonal skills using tact, patience, and courtesy. Telephone technique and etiquette. Operation of a computer, MUNIS accounting system, and other business office equipment. Tax withholding, retirement systems (CERS/KTRS), voluntary deductions, garnishments, and fringe benefits. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: ABILITY TO: Perform responsible payroll record-keeping duties with a high degree of skill and accuracy. Learn to interpret, apply, and explain rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. Process payroll and related records for an assigned major payroll. Add, subtract, multiply, and divide quickly and accurately. Understand and follow oral and written directions. Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others. Meet schedules and time lines. Work confidentially and with discretion. Communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Complete work with many interruptions. Type at an acceptable rate of speed. Maintain records and prepare reports. Operate standard office equipment including a computer as required. Navigate and successful use MUNIS accounting software and other software relevant to payroll/business functions. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: Maintain accurate records: Provide all employees with pertinent information related to: Exact salaries, including certification, rank, and experience, supplements and extended employment. Keys in a timely manner, designated information related to payroll including time sheet information, sick leave, emergency leave, professional leave, jury duty, vacation, and other information as deemed appropriate by the Finance Officer/Payroll Bookkeeper. Remit taxes, retirement contributions, and deductions, etc. to appropriate agencies as required. Complete all reports in a timely manner. Prepare appropriate financial reports as required by the Superintendent or Finance Officer. Monthly Quarterly Annually 2. Remit billings related to time period to Board employees for assisting organization in use of school facilities outside normal working hours. 3. Maintains appropriate records pertinent to all personnel and provides said information as requested by the Superintendent or Finance Officer. 4. Reconciles all records related to closing a month and fiscal year. 5. Works with the finance personnel to maintain all information related to all benefits and provides all reports in a timely manner. 6. Receives and routes all incoming communiqués in appropriate manner. 7. Plans and completes work on a timely basis. 8. Consistently displays self-discipline. 9. Cooperates with staff, both certified and support staff. 10. Promotes job and loyalty to organization by actions which indicate a spirit of pride for the job and the organization for which employed. 11. Shows an interest and concern for the total program and its efficient operations. 12. Consistently responsible and displays an attitude of honesty, integrity, and credibility. 13.
