Administrative duties of the Medical Assistant include answering telephones, greeting patients, updating and filing patients' medical records, filling out insurance forms, handling correspondence, scheduling appointments, arranging for laboratory services. Clinical duties of the Medical Assistant includetaking patient medical history, obtaining and recording vital signs, and collecting urine specimens. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Good knowledge of general office PRACTIVE AND BUSINESS English. Ability to deal effectively with the public. Ability to type at a rate no less than 40 words per minute. Demonstrates a positive outlook and a respectful manner towards clients, staff, co-workers, and visitors. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: High School diploma or GED Graduate of Medical Assistant program required. Proficiency in measuring and recording vital signs/weights required. State Certification/Registration, BLS, and medical office experience preferred.
