Senior Fleet Mechanic
Essentials Duties And Responsibilities
• Review truck driver's reports and schedule repairs based on reports
• Repair or assist in repairs on fleet trucks, trailers, reefer units, and other equipment as needed
• Wash all fleet trucks and trailers as required including windshields and mirrors
• Receive and assist with truck driver emergency calls during working hours and after scheduled work hours and weekends
• Service trucks and trailers, monitor fluid levels, add fuel, oil, and other required fluids as necessary
• Perform oil changes and other minor repairs on fleet trucks, trailers, reefer units, and forklifts as necessary
• Expected to help maintain the cleanliness of fleet maintenance and other related work areas
• Check truck and trailer tires and their condition for safe operation
• Monitor spare parts inventory and related supplies, notify supervisor of required purchases when needed
• Pick up or deliver fleet equipment as requested by the Fleet Maintenance Supervisor
• Work closely with shipping operations to organize fleet equipment preparation with routing
• Assist truck drivers, production personnel, or shipping, with the loading or unloading of trailers due to temperature issues or equipment malfunction
• Very long hours will be necessary during certain times of the year
• Operate pallet jacks and/or forklifts
• Must be able to work flexible hours and weekends
• Must be able to self direct and organize work load
• Must be able to write legibly and complete various required daily work documents
• Must report maintenance issues as required for safe operations and DOT compliance
• Must be able to communicate clearly and respond professionally in negative situations
• Must be able to drive tractor/ trailer and maintain a valid CDL license.
• Other duties may be delegated by the supervisor as necessary
Physical Demands
• Must be able to lift up to 100 lbs.
PPE /Tools
• Steel toed boots
• Must honor any other PPE requested by customers
Work Environment
• Involves working in all kinds of seasonal and temperature weather conditions
• Both outside and inside work is required
• Laying on wet ground or snow may be required in certain situations
• May require early morning or late night starts and long hours

Food Safety / Quality
• Report any issues regarding food safety or quality to supervision and/or quality assurance.
• Comply with client requirements when applicable.
• Expected to observe hygiene practices as required and comply with all safety procedures at all times.
Other Requirements
• 2 Years experience in diesel mechanic experience
• Experience in refrigerated trailer repairs
• Must be able to work flexible hours and weekends.
• Snow removal, painting, salting, and lot maintenance required as directed by supervisor.
• Must possess functional math skills.
• Must be able to read and write legibly.
• Must be able to troubleshoot vehicle/truck/trailer/ thermo-king electrical related problems.
• Must be willing to be called into work during off hours.
• Must stay abreast of DOT regulations and requirements.
• Must have (at minimum) a "Class A" CDL & meet all D.O.T. Requirements for fitness of duty
