Operational Excellence & Process Quality Director
Purpose of the Position:
Support of manufacturing operations through Operational Excellence support functions of operational systems, process management, and reliability systems.
Responsibilities Include:
Safety culture
• Create and maintain a safe working environment strengthening the company’s safety culture, and continuously working towards zero accidents. Responsible for effective implementation of all relevant safety regulations and the safety performance of the assigned areas.
• Lead by example, actively developing our Culture of Accountability.
Product Quality
• Provide guidance and oversight of manufacturing operations to ensure compliance with CRP Quality Operation System
• Serve on the Quality Steering Committee as a key participant and leader.
• Work with R&D and Customer tech support to coordinate trials, qualification, and industrialization of new or changes products and processes.
• Manage the implementation and transfer of new and changing products by the development of those processes through industrialization.
• Effectively identify, contain, manage, and resolve Product related claims of Customer or Plant initiated corrective actions. Give operational support to the plant concerning root cause analysis and corrective action reporting.
• Upgrade and employ the latest advances in technology to improve process reliability.
• Act as ‘owner’ of the Marquis recovery and quality reporting tool to ensure cost effective, useful, and accurate reporting.
• Make sure corrective actions and escalations are executed in case of risk of major deviations on agreed timings, budgets, quality and deliverables.
• Lead Material Review Board meeting.
Commonwealth Process Management:
• Develop, plan, coordinate actions, and track the execution of the key initiatives to ensure achievement of the annual operating plan goals - specifically claims and recovery
• Drive Process Management implementation, coaching and developing process managers, PPQ leads and business leaders for the purpose of driving statistical process control, stability and capability.
• Participate in process management audits.
• Ensure the full use of process management on all applicable processes.
• Ensure site wide integration of process management as part of the Quality Operating System.
• Work with business leads, quality leads and process managers to establish Inter-departmental customer-supplier quality agreements and systems to drive business based improvement in internal supply relationships
• Lead CAR process for significant events or cross-departmental escalations.
• Lead teams to solve complex or large quality or recovery problems or opportunities.
• Review all EOL’s and processes to ensure processes are capable of consistently meeting customer requirements, recommend solutions for processes that require improved capability.
• Lead use and application of layered process audits, EASE System, and Coil track.
Operational Excellence and Continuous Improvement
• Develop, maintain, and improve the manufacturing processes used to produce CRP products. Least waste, lowest cost, highest reliability.
• Working with the business leaders and their teams to develop the roadmap and achieve the recovery and quality goals for the business, including key initiatives, their impact, the accountable person and the deadline.
• Lead the Reliability Roadmap assessment and annual action deployment of improvements Seek out and implement proven and business case based operational excellence tools.
• Develop a ‘next generation’ data analytical tools, including potential applications of AI.
• Develop the problem-solving capability of the Plant enhancing employee involvement and engagement.
• Working with BL’s, identify plantwide and interdepartmental conversion cost reduction opportunities

• Coach and Develop Department quality, maintenance and operating members to grow their skills, technical expertise, and ability with respect to Quality Systems and process management.
• Depending on background and qualifications of the incumbent, additional duties spanning into lean manufacturing, Op Ex, Reliability excellence could be part of the role.
Required Qualifications: • B.S. degree in Material Science or engineering degree required.
• 10 plus years industrial experience (aluminum rolling preferred)
• 3 plus years in a line leaders’ role (i.e. production or maintenance Supt, or higher)
• Experience with process management and quality systems
• Demonstrated ability to plan and drive improvements in a manufacturing operation
• Ability to drive rapid and significant change
• Must have a continuous improvement mindset
• Ability to influence others
• Must be a strong, analytical thinker
Preferred Qualifications
• 3 plus years in a business leaders’ role (i.e. accountability for the HSE, quality, costs, production and maintenance results)
• Master’s degree
• Maintenance background
• Specialized aluminum metallurgical knowledge on a wide range of products, preferentially aluminum rolled products.
• Strong knowledge of all supplied markets.
• Has a very good knowledge of quality techniques such as FMEA, MSA, PPAP, and APQP.
• Extensive leadership in a union shop
