Architectural Drafter
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
The successful candidate must be detail-oriented and will work closely with architects, engineers, and other team members in drafting plans according to building codes and specs.
Drafting & Design
• Create detailed architectural drawings, blueprints, and plans based on initial designs and sketches.
• Develop floor plans, elevations, sections, and construction details using CAD software.
• Revise and update existing drawings as needed, incorporating feedback from architects and engineers.
Collaboration
• Work closely with architects, engineers, and other team members to ensure drawings meet project specifications.
• Coordinate with project managers to understand project timelines and ensure drawings are completed on schedule.
• Communicate with construction and engineering teams to clarify design details and resolve issues during construction.
Compliance & Standards
• Ensure all drawings comply with relevant building codes, regulations, and company standards.
• Assist in preparing documents for permits, approvals, and construction.
• Maintain an organized archive of drawings and related documents.
Technical Skills
• Utilize AutoCAD (or Revit), and other relevant software to produce high-quality architectural drawings.
• Incorporate material specifications, finishes, and other detailed information into drawings.
• Stay updated on drafting techniques, tools, and industry trends.
Qualifications
Education
• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Architectural Drafting, Architecture, or a related field.
• Certification in CAD or related software is preferred.
Experience
• Minimum three years of experience in architectural drafting, preferably within the construction or architectural industry.
• Experience with multifamily residential projects is a plus.
Skills
• Proficiency in AutoCAD (or Revit), and other architectural drafting software.
• Ability to read and comprehend project plans and documentation, including researching local ordinances and building codes.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in producing technical drawings.
• Knowledge of construction methods and technologies and ability to interpret technical drawings and contracts, building code requirements, and ordinances.
• Strong communication and organizational skills to meet strict timelines.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with a constant eye on quality and compliance.
