Administrative Assistant II - Preadmission Testing Non-Clinical Support Hours: 7:00 AM - 3:30PM Days - Full-time Paygrade/Wages/Salary Info: 11H -
Job Summary Performs a variety of administrative/clerical duties in support of assigned department. # Job Responsibilities Greets patients and visitors, answers/screens/routes telephone calls, files, and distributes mail. Completes less routine and detailed work assignments. Communicates with patients, families, physicians, and other healthcare team members about patient care. Produces and maintains various reports, surveys, and documents for unit staff; photocopies and distributes and/or files as necessary. Transcribes and enters physicians# orders subject to the approval of a licensed nurse; asks for clarification when necessary. Assists with processing patient admissions, transfers, and discharges. Assembles and maintains patient records and charts. Processes internal and external requests from physicians# offices, nursing stations, and other departments. Performs duties of purchasing agent for the department through requisition entry, equipment inventory, and record keeping in accordance with budget guidelines. Schedules and coordinates meetings, conferences, special events, appointments, and travel arrangements. Maintains assigned calendar(s). May assist with staff scheduling as directed. Maintains work area and related supplies and equipment. Assists with evaluating the office environment, revising procedures, improving efficiency of workflow, and initiating cost reduction programs. Performs patient placement duties for admissions and transfers in coordination with House Supervisor, UR nurse, and environmental services as assigned. Qualifications High school diploma, General Equivalency Diploma (GED) or higher required upon hire A minimum of 2 years# relevant experience required No licensure/certification/registration required Skills and Attributes Requires critical thinking skills and decisive judgment. Works under general supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. Applies more advanced skills and knowledge in the area of specialization.
