Minimum Qualifications
Requires at least a baccalaureate degree in the field. Please contact your Human Resources office for an evaluation of education/experience in lieu of the required minimum qualifications.
Preferred Qualifications
• Master's degree in a relevant scientific field (e.g., public health, environmental science, disaster management, etc.).
• Proven experience in writing and editing scientific manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals.
• Strong proficiency in English, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Two to four years of job-related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience in proofreading and editing grant proposals.
• Familiarity with disaster management or related fields.
• Previous teaching experience, particularly in scientific writing.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
Position Summary
The Scientific Writer at the Institute for Disaster Management will play a crucial role in enhancing the quality and impact of the Institute's research outputs. The successful candidate will be responsible for writing and editing scientific manuscripts for submission to peer-reviewed journals, as well as proofreading and refining grant proposals. Additionally, the Scientific Writer will conduct workshops and training sessions to improve the scientific writing skills of current team members. This role involves a detail-oriented individual with a strong background in scientific writing and a passion for effective communication of research findings.
