Systems Administrator
Geoprobe® is seeking a highly skilled Systems Administrator to join our IT team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining the company's computer systems, networks, servers, and software. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in system administration, network administration, and troubleshooting. Job Responsibilities
• Install, configure, and maintain computers and other company hardware
• Setup and maintain Active Directory users in our systems and provide proper access to resources (i.e. software, printers, rights, security, etc.)
• Design, implement, manage, and maintain the company's computer systems, networks (hubs, switches, routers), on-premise and cloud servers, and software
• Implement and maintain security measures to protect on-premise and cloud-based systems
• Upgrade company hardware and software components as required
• Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues
• Ensure data backup and disaster recovery plans are in place
• Perform system and network security assessments and implement appropriate measures
• Provide technical support and assistance to end-users (in-office, phone, email, help desk, etc.)
• Document system configurations, processes, and procedures
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and provide technical solutions
• Stay current with latest trends, best practices and advancements in technology and recommend improvements
• Cross-train IT on system and hardware for backup support
• Work with outside vendors
• Off-hour support as necessary
• Other duties as assigned
Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field
• 7+ years of experience in systems administration or related role
• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality work
• Proven skills in project organization, prioritization, time-management, and decision-making
• Strong knowledge of Windows operating systems and cloud platforms, such as Azure
• Experience with virtualization technologies, such as VMware or Hyper-V
• Experience with cloud-based endpoint management solutions, such as Intune
• Solid understanding of networking principles and protocols
• Familiarity with backup and disaster recovery solutions
• Proficiency in scripting and automation using tools like PowerShell, Bash, or Python
• Experience with monitoring and troubleshooting on-premise and cloud-based systems
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Team oriented - able to collaborate with fellow employees - requires working with IT department, and other company departments
Job Skills Desired
• ERP (enterprise resource planning) software experience
• Industry certifications (i.e. Microsoft, Novell, etc)
