Job Summary
PIC Group has an exciting opportunity for an Operations Supervisor at a combined cycle plant located in Mankato, Minnesota. The Operations Supervisor is responsible for leading, organizing, and overseeing plant operations to ensure reliability, safety, and environmental standards are met. The Operations Supervisor role includes leading and training plant operating personnel and preparing operational budgets, as well as developing and maintaining start-up, shutdown, normal, abnormal, and emergency procedures. Additionally, the Operations Supervisor role includes monitoring plant performance and preparing operational and outage reports.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
• Assist the O&M Manager in overseeing and directing mission-critical programs and processes such as performance management, outage management, project management, asset integrity, and fiscal management.
• Provide visible safety leadership and contribute to the creation and continuous improvement of a sustainable safety culture. Engage the team through safety meetings, job briefs, audits, training, accident investigation/event assessment, and job site observations.
• Follow all safety/environmental policies, procedures, and rules, and participate in training. Promote the company's values of Accountability, Adaptability, Collaboration, and Excellence.
• Coordinate and lead plant O&M Tech personnel to ensure generating requirements and plant efficiency are maintained, and that local, state, and federal environmental standards are met.
• Investigate incidents and abnormalities to improve equipment availability and minimize maintenance requirements.
• Prepare and continually review procedures necessary for plant operation and maintenance, and plant operator qualification documents.
• Review and provide operational inputs to capital and engineering projects.
• Prepare budgets and/or make recommendations to the O&M Manager regarding operating budgets.
• Provide direct leadership over crew effectiveness, quality, and productivity. Maintain a continuous presence in the work environment and assist in removing barriers related to prerequisites, materials, stakeholders, and other issues.
• Recruit talented employees, participate in workforce and development planning efforts, establish clear expectations, and manage performance effectively. Provide training, coaching, and oversight to drive employee engagement.
• Maintain complete and accurate reports of downtime, outages, repair requirements, and production and performance indices. Oversee testing of plant systems and components.
• Plan, direct, and supervise routine preventive and predictive maintenance on all systems and equipment; support corrective maintenance efforts on selected equipment.
• Develop and evaluate on-the-job and classroom training in operations-related subjects.
• Prepare lesson plans, handouts, visual aids, examinations, qualification standards, and other materials related to employee training and development.
• Maintain logs, records, and data sheets; prepare and review operational reports, trends, timesheets, material requisitions, work orders, and other administrative documents related to power and steam production.
• Qualify operators as O&M Technician I/II for the plants and ensure all operators maintain proficiency in safely operating the plants.
• Manage site compliance with all permits and NERC compliance standards, including NERC GADs reporting.
• Provide management direction in the absence of the O&M Manager.
• Perform other duties as assigned. Maintain logs, records, and data sheets; prepare and review operational reports, trends, timesheets, material requisitions, work orders, and other administrative documents related to power and steam production.
• Qualify operators as O&M Technician I/II for the plants and ensure all operators maintain proficiency in safely operating the plants.
• Manage site compliance with all permits and NERC compliance standards, including NERC GADs reporting.
Job Requirements

• Valid U.S. Driver's license with acceptable MVR history
Physical Requirements
• Must be able to meet physical requirements with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Requires significant standing, walking, bending, squatting, and lifting. May need to lift, carry, and move up to 50 lbs.
• Use of arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, turn, push, and pull objects, materials, controls, and tools.
• Occasionally work at heights, climb ladders, stairways, and work off platforms.
• Use vision abilities to focus, see short and long distances, colors, depth perception, and peripheral vision.
• Required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to hard hat, safety glasses/goggles, ear plugs/muffs, masks/respirators, safety vests, gloves, and steel-toe boots.
• Able to hear plant alarms, equipment condition, and receive oral instructions.
• Acuity to determine plant operating conditions and avoid safety hazards.
• Work is primarily performed inside the power plant but may involve working in various weather conditions ranging from warm/hot to cool/cold, including occasional rain.
• Noise levels will be moderate to high.
• Work extended hours and varied shifts, including weekends and holidays, as required by schedules, workload, and plant conditions. On-call status will be required.
Education / Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering or related technical discipline required.
• 7+ years of experience in the power generation field, or exceptional work or military experience in a related technical field may substitute for the degree.
• Previous leadership experience required.
