Assists in providing rehabilitative services to persons with mental, physical, emotional, or developmental impairments.
- Education: Graduate of an accredited therapy program
- Experience: 2-3 years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Licenses/Certifications: Current Occupational Therapy Assistant state license; CPR certification.

Requirements
- Provides services under the direction of licensed occupational therapist.
- Follows treatment plan developed in collaboration with occupational therapist by teaching techniques, such as, the proper method of moving from a bed into a wheelchair, and the best way to stretch and limber muscles.
- Evaluates the living skills and capabilities of physically, developmentally, and emotionally disabled patients.
- Assists in the selection of activities and the development of treatment plans to help patients to function independently.
- Observes, monitors, and records patients progress, attitudes, and behavior, providing feedback to superiors, and recommending changes to their treatment plans.
- Instructs patients and their families on in-home programs, basic living skills, and the care and use of adaptive equipment.
- Performs routine tasks, such as helping patients perform stretches and teaching patients to use specific equipment.
- Uses a variety of tools and equipment, such as special lifts or pulleys to move patients.
- Documents patient care services according to approved medical documentation and facility documentation procedures.
