Senior Connections
Our mission is to place and have Senior Connections members serve at non-profit, faith-based, and public agencies that offer services to senior citizens throughout the Green River Area Development District. Our goal is to reduce the rate of food insecurity for our senior citizens and assist them in their ability to live independently in their own homes, to have an effective social support system, a reliable and sustainable source of nutrition and ensure they are resilient.

Member Duties : Members will utilize proven interventions of socialization and improved nutrition and also provide information on disaster preparedness because seniors are more vulnerable than the general population to the effects of disasters. Members will engage in socialization by making telephone reassurance calls, in-home visits, welfare checks, providing transportation, assisting with social activities, exercise, education, meet and greet new and old clients, and will provide any service requested by clients within the scope of the service site to which they are assigned. Members will engage in providing improved nutrition by assisting with home delivered meals, congregate meals, operating food pantries, developing community gardens and participating in a “Feed Seniors Now” food drive as a service project. Members will provide information and volunteer training opportunities related to disaster preparedness.
