Work Schedule Up to 20 hours a week, Monday-Friday Job Summary Estrella Mountain Community College (EMCC) is hiring a MakerSpace Assistant Lab Technician- Federal Work Study. This position will provide students with support in the learning environment. The MakerSpace Assistant Lab Technician is tasked with maintaining the space and the equipment in the space. This includes performing routine maintenance on machines, helping students with projects, cleaning the space, and ensuring that personal protective equipment is available and in use by the users of the space. The MakerSpace Assistant Lab Technician is also tasked with keeping training plans for individual machines up-to-date, and operating machines when the MakerSpace is tasked to make projects. Additional Information Job end date: 5/10/2025 Essential Functions 20% - Assisting students with projects, instructing students in the appropriate use of equipment and tools. 20% - Maintaining equipment and tools in the MakerSpace. For example, cleaning machines, sharpening blades, bits, etc. 20% - Ensuring that all activities in the MakerSpace are being done in a safe manner, ensuring that personal protective equipment is being used appropriately, and is clean and available. 15% - Preparing the MakerSpace for visiting classes, and other stakeholders as required. Setting up computers, equipment, tools, etc. for class usage. 10% - Supporting and assisting with MakerSpace projects including learning seminars and building projects. 10% - Cleans and maintains the space. 5% - Other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or GED. OR An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation. Desired Qualifications Experience with any MakerSpace technologies; 3D Printing; Vinyl Cutting; Sewing and Embroidery; Laser Cutting; CNC machines; Woodworking; Art; Multimedia equipment; Adobe Suite Proficient communication skills to include verbal, written, and electronic communication. Good time management skills. Willingness to learn, and explore new things and ideas. Previous customer service experience Experience with CAD software and/or graphic design. Previous leadership experience OSHA training Special Working Conditions This job includes working in a lab around machinery and equipment. Some of this equipment does pose a safety risk (hearing, eyes, etc.), all tasks will be done in a safe and professional manner (as defined by internal policy and OSHA regulations). FWS does not directly pay for tuition, and funds are only available to eligible students attending a minimum of six (6) degree applicable hours in a federal student aid eligible program.
