The Grounds Maintenance Worker is primarily responsible for grounds maintenance and may also assist Maintenance Workers II and III in the performance of duties. Principal Duties and Responsibilities Maintenance of Mount Saint Joseph grounds. Cooperates with other employees to achieve department goals and objectives. Performs manual labor as required. Operates and maintains equipment as training and qualifications apply. Performs maintenance on assigned equipment in order to prevent equipment failure. Assist with removal of snow and ice and spreading of ice melt. Perform weekly and weekend “Rounds” duties on rotation schedule. Follows all safety regulations. Maintains courteous and professional communications with Sisters, visitors, staff members and all customers. Trash removal--Daily Monday-Friday with exceptions over long weekends. Maintain up to date inventory. Maintain up to date preventive work orders. Skills and Abilities Required Must be capable of operating machinery, such as: lawnmowers, weed eaters and chain saws. Must be physically able to perform manual labor for extended periods in hot or cold conditions. Ability to withstand and manage constant standing, walking, crawling, bending, lifting and carrying. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work with a wide variety of people. Ability to follow detailed instructions. Must have an awareness of safety issues concerning cuts, burns, falls, and communicable diseases. Basic computer skills are necessary. Education, Training and/or Experience High School diploma or equivalent required. Must possess a valid driver’s license.
