Domtar Paper Company LLC is seeking a Mill Controller at its Hawesville, Kentucky location.
Job Description: Provide financial and business support to operating departments to minimize cost and optimize mill operations. Work with superintendents/managers to prepare forecasts/budgets. Manage the preparation of accurate internal and external financial reports that comply with company policy and GAAP guidelines for financial reporting. Identify any potential issues and prevent any delays in closing process, review budget variances for outliers prior to closing, validate inventory (chemicals, pulp, and wood), and ensure that known mill operations events are appropriately reflected in results. Proactively work with the Operations team to understand accounting discrepancies, assess reasonableness, and identify any misstatements and/or errors. Recognize changes in manufacturing environment and how they affect the P&L. Conduct monthly review of costs and productivity with Operations to identify areas for improvement and implement cost savings initiatives. Lead, coordinate, and perform analysis for operating and capital projects to optimize performance and earnings. Complete ROI, Profit and Cost Reduction Analysis in gate reviews for capital, as well as targeted cost reduction and operational improvement projects. Maintain relationships with all functional areas of the mill and be a front-end resource for financial decision-making. Coordinate and review month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing and reporting to meet corporate deadlines. Maintain effective system of internal controls that are validated with audits and in compliance with corporate and legal regulations. Position requires up to 10% domestic travel to visit other mills.
Minimum requirements: Position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a closely related field. Position requires five (5) years of experience as a Controller, Business Analyst, Consultant or a related occupation. Position requires three (3) years of experience in the paper industry. Position requires three (3) years of experience with the following: Providing accounting and finance services in a manufacturing environment, including properly applying general accepted accounting principles, participation in audits, and leading physical inventories; Utilizing MS Office and ERP systems; and supervising accounting personnel.
