Job Summary Seeking an experienced Behavioral Health Insurance Specialist to work in our Billing Office. The Insurance Specialist position requires fundamental knowledge and experience in behavioral health claims submission, denial management, resolving claims with no response, knowledgeable on how insurance companies pay accordingly to contracts. Insurance Specialist will assist in process and procedure creation and documentation. Insurance Specialist will know how to read and interrupt an insurance explanation of benefits (EOB), and do precise A/R follow-up with the insurance company via, phone, email, insurance web sites, etc. at an acceptable volume per day. Essential Functions Behavioral Health medical billing experience Denial Management Electronic Claims Submission Initiate correction on all claims with errors/denials Completes precise follow-up of insurance aging claims with no response as well as denied claims Familiar with payer rules and regulations, MCO and commercial Complete and review accounts that may have a credit balance and resolve the account May post payments from the different payers to patient’s accounts when applicable Assure that the collection of deposits and co-pays when applicable Enters relevant information into the computer system Sets up payment arrangements with self -pay patients Assists patients and staff with questions concerning their insurance coverage Process mail including returned mail Qualifications Minimum one-year previous insurance denial follow-up experience in behavioral health required High school graduate Medical terminology knowledge preferred Basic computer knowledge, Excel proficient preferred Billing and Coding degree preferred but not required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Experience working claim denials and accounts with no response. Ability to work independently, exercise creativity, be attentive to detail, and maintain a positive attitude Must be able to read and interpret an EOB Knowledge of medical insurances (Medicare, HMO’s, PPO’s, commercial, MCO’s Medicaid) regulations, physician billing and collection process Must have excellent customer service and communication skills Must have a professional demeanor and excellent public relations skills Job Type: Full-time Pay: From $20.00 per hour Expected hours: 40 per week Schedule: 8 hour shift Day shift Monday to Friday Morning shift People with a criminal record are encouraged to apply Work Location: In person
