ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Assists Cafe manager with day-to-day operations, supervision of staff, and upkeep of Cafe Assumes responsibility of overall Cafe operations in absence of the Cafe manager Helps manage and track labor by writing effective schedules, allocating hours scheduled to most necessary tasks and tracking/approving timesheets Capable of performing every function in the cafe to properly supervise operations and drive efficiencies Monitors food quality to ensure accuracy and consistency in food production Maintains urgency regarding ticket times; work to train and motivate Cafe staff to improve results Maintains awareness of prep needs and directs production to prevent out of stocks; updates cafe menu items in POS system Creates prep lists to best reflect needs and ensures ingredients are stocked and available; assists in prep work when needed Operates a variety of specialized food service equipment, i.e. espresso machine, coffee brewer, conveyor oven; maintains extensive knowledge of coffee brewing and espresso techniques Conducts training of all new staff; contributes to employee performance reviews by providing constructive feedback and setting growth centered goals Handles conflict, both with customers or staff, with maturity and respect; knows when to elevate a situation to Cafe Manager, GM or HR Helps develop metrics for measuring guest satisfaction and works to improve results Assists Cafe manager with ordering as assigned Performs calmly and effectively in a fast-paced work environment and makes efficient use of downtime for self and staff Ensures a sanitary line and workstations (including cutting boards, floor, trash, slicer, and bread and coffee areas); performs general maintenance (preventative and other) of the facility and equipment Communicates and trains new recipes and items to staff Assists with preparing catering orders when needed Assists with maintaining procedures for cost, waste, and quality control Assisting with ensuring each shift is staffed optimally and that breaks are taken at optimum times Communicates regularly with other managers regarding needs, successes, and customer input Generates fun and excitement with an upbeat personality and positive attitude to help ensure a good work environment and customer experience Assists fellow employees as needed STANDARD JOB FUNCTIONS Approaches issues with the goal to propose solutions, rather than highlight problems Identifies whether a problem is system-based or person-based, and works constructively to solve problems accordingly Coaches and develops the team to improve customer service, product knowledge, and work efficiency Leads by example and provides employees with clear expectations and timely feedback Assists with and completes scheduling, coverage, assigning breaks, hiring, firing, reviewing, and rewarding Follows budget, assists with achievement of department profitability Provides insight to the Cafe manager on performance of team members and provides perspective on how to best motivate or educate individuals facing challenges in fulfilling their roles Is a hands-on leader who isn't afraid to get sweaty Works closely and collaboratively with all Swamp Departments Establishes and maintains good business and community relations Helps us grow, without losing the magic JOB REQUIREMENTS Must be 21 years of age or older 1-3 years restaurant experience and/or customer service business required Experience managing a budget and staff required Must have a good working knowledge of Google Suite (Drive, Sheets, Docs) and Microsoft Excel and be willing to learn and use the Entrepreneurial Operating System Must be available to work mornings, nights and weekends (Saturday and Sunday) Must agree to background check Must have a high school diploma Must have a valid driver’s license and meet the requirements of the Swamp driving policy Must wear closed-toe, slip resistant shoes with a Coefficient of Friction rating between 0.54 and 0.76. Coefficient of Friction rating is the measure of traction for slip resistant shoes and generally shoes labeled for commercial kitchen use fall into this category (examples of brands include but are not limited to Tredsafe, SafeTStep, Skechers for Work). Must communicate by Paylocity, Slack, Asana and email Complies to and ensures compliance of all related food safety, health & sanitation regulations, workplace safety, and weights and measures according to SCDHEC, other applicable laws and company policies and regulations as necessary.
