New Ulm Public Schools Independent School District #88 JOB POSTING FOR BUSINESS MANAGER Internal and external applications accepted through August 16, 2024 , or until filled Full-Time, year-round position JOB SUMMARY Under the direction of the Superintendent, the Business Manager serves as the chief financial officer of the District overseeing the financial operations and staff of the department engaged in such accounting functions as financial reporting, cash management, revenues and investments, accounting systems, accounts payable, student reporting, accounts receivable purchasing, payroll/benefits administration, grant accounting, and budget preparation and monitoring in accordance with state and federal accounting standards, rules and regulations. Candidates for this position should be a self-starter, have great communication skills, work independently, able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and be a strong team member. Essential knowledge and responsibilities required to perform essential functions of the job include: Understand and follow the laws, rules, statutes, and guidelines related to school finance, audit requirements, business operations, and accounting. Knowledge of state funding formulas, levy process, and requirements. Knowledge of UFARS accounting procedures, SERV, SEDRA, MARSS, and STARS rules, and guidelines Organizational, management, and supervisory principles, standards, and practices. Knowledge of statistical, investment, budget, accounting, cash flow analysis, contract administration, and purchasing best practices and procedures. Human resource and employee relation concepts, principles, laws, rules, and processes. Knowledge of benefit administration, pension regulations, programs, and provisions. Data processing systems and software are used in the collection, analysis, reporting, and accounting of financial information. Knowledge of local, state, and federal reporting requirements of school finances and accounting information. Knowledge of data retention, data privacy, and records management maintenance and related requirements. Minimum Qualifications: Requires a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance or closely related area and a minimum of 5-8 years experience in accounting that includes some supervisory experience, and or a combination of equivalent education and experience to perform the work. Experience with school finance recommended. SALARY/BENEFITS Salary range of $95,000-$125,000, dependent on experience. Benefit package available including health insurance, 403B matching, sick leave, paid holidays, vacation, and professional dues.
