Overview: The New Vehicle Sales Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and controlling the activities of the new vehicle sales department and measuring the performance of the employees in the department. They will be responsible for appraising customer vehicles, ordering and controlling level of new vehicle inventory inventory, and merchandising and displaying new vehicles. Qualifications: Minimum of two years of new vehicle sales experience. Managerial experience preferred. Valid in-state driver's license. Professional personal appearance. Excellent communications skills. High school diploma or equivalent. Ability to read and comprehend instructions and information. Duties: Establish unit and gross profit objectives monthly for the department and for each salesperson Establish department operating procedures with dealer concurrence Establish and supervise effective training programs for departmental employees Work with Used Vehicle Sales Manager and establish a program which ensures that new vehicle salespersons are kept informed of used vehicle inventory, used vehicle pricing, promotions, etc Establish and maintain the desired stocking level for each model and total new inventory. Paying particular attention to past sales, future sales objective, promotions, model demands, model availability and floor plan liability expense. Provide current stocking quantity by model, units on order by model, and sales history information to General Manager or Dealer on a monthly. Perform the vehicle appraising function and document and record all appraisals as follows: Log all appraisals by car lines and document % traded in from each car line Provide the following information on each appraisal Wholesale Value (ACV) Estimated recondition expense detail Estimated retail figure Advise and inform all departmental employees of dealership policies Review sale event and promotional plans with sales personnel Review management policies with the sales staff Work with dealership CRM and establish a customer prospecting system and monitor it Counsel and train the sales people with daily one on one sessions going over customer contacts, follow up, and prospecting efforts. Review and approve sales agreements with your signature Assist sales personnel in closing and make and effort to speak with each individual customer who is quoted prices to determine how they feel about the sales person, the vehicle, and the deal presented Develop advertising plans, promotional plans, and advertising layout and copy Attend auto auctions monthly to stay abreast of the wholesale and retail market and to purchase and sell vehicles with the General Sales Manager or Dealer Approval Direct and schedule the activities of all department employees Oversee the efforts of salespeople to enhance the image and customer satisfaction ratings of the dealership Maintain standards for the delivery of vehicles to customers Maintain and develop an owner follow-up program Strive for harmony and teamwork with all other dealership departments Attend manager's meetings and employee meetings as requested Establish a system and controls for logging and handling customer complains whereby all complaints are brought to the attention of the General Sales Manager or the Dealer Principal. Understand, keep abreast of, and comply with federal, state, and local regulations that affect new and used vehicle sales (e.g. FTC Buyer's Guide, State Used Vehicle Warranty Law, Pollution Control Disclosure, Better Business Bureau Advertising Standards, IRS cash reporting, license and title laws, new vehicle damage disclosure, etc.) Working Conditions: The new vehicle manager works both indoors and out, moving about the dealership facility and lot to communicate with salespeople and customers. They work closely with the used vehicle department and the Finance and Insurance Department to transport paperwork and to discuss sales. Weekend, evening and holiday hours will be required. Test driving customer vehicles and dealership vehicles will be required.
