Director of Academic Advising
Kentucky Wesleyan College, a private, liberal arts college with a long-standing reputation for quality and academic excellence, invites applications for a full-time Director of Academic Advising to join our community and to lead academic advising and first-year student programs for the college.
Major Responsibilities
• Coordinates advising across campus and advises students as necessary.
• Coordinates summer advising for incoming first-year students through both on-campus events and remote advising.
• Co-monitors KWC’s early alert system, manages referrals, seeks resolutions, and closes alerts in a timely manner.
• Co-chairs the college’s CAREs team and assists in resolution of student issues.
• Develops and implements strategic plans for the office, sets goals and outcomes, performs yearly assessments, provides regular reports, and employs strategies for improvement.
• Supervises the faculty mentor program and KW 101 Freshman Seminar.
• Integrates advising initiatives with equity-focused practices as part of the college’s broader diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts, including assisting students of diverse backgrounds to navigate educational barriers.
• Facilitates professional development, training, and workshops for faculty advisors.
Qualifications
• Master’s degree in a field related to higher education affairs (i.e. Student Affairs, College Personnel, Counseling, etc.).
• Previous experience in post-secondary student advising or student success.
• Commitment to promoting student success and encouraging outcomes-directed solutions.
• Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports in a timely manner.
• Knowledge of trends, practices, and issues relevant to student success.
