Job Description/Responsibilities
The Assistant Processing Manager is responsible for managing the day-to-day operation of the Processing Department as it relates to line planning, inbound raw material shipments, blending and filtering of products for bottling usage, the use of TTB approved formulas, and Glenmore Distillery formulas. This role is also responsible for the development of the front-line leaders and support staff within the processing department to achieve designated targets and stretch goals. In addition to the goals listed above, the Assistant Processing Manager will also:
• Lead the 10 Processing areas (over 200 tanks), 5 supervisors, 35+ Processors in accomplishing production needs within safety, quality, budgetary and regulatory guidelines. Lead the Processing Team in minimizing flavor inventory along with minimizing expired ingredients. Leading bulk processing management for the facility, including shipment of bulk and processed spirits to other Sazerac plants. Employee must adhere to all Personal Safety, Food Safety, Quality, and Environmental Policies & Practices.
• Work with the processing and materials coordinators to ensure timely and accurate production booking and compliance to TTB standards for documentation. Serve as a resource for the materials coordinators and supervisors to discuss ingredient needs to hit the production schedule while managing inventory levels and tanker truck schedules.
• Monitors and enforces all OSHA and Company safety regulations and policies. Provides leadership to the safety program for the Processing department through development and execution of safe practices and operating procedures to minimize the occurrence and severity of workplace accidents. Assists in the investigation of EH&S incidents to determine and address root cause.
• Ensure adherence to Personal Safety (HACCP), Food Safety, Quality and Environmental Policies and Practices. Analyzes and resolves problems relating to product quality in a timely manner to avoid loss of product and incorrect product being bottled. Monitor the batching and filtering work of the Processing Supervisors/team members to ensure product accuracy/standards and quality requirements are met. Deliver defect free product through implementation of quality standards & accountability to align with ISO requirements.
• Ensures processing efficiency within cost standards. Monitors efficiencies, quality and production data to improve yields and throughput without sacrificing quality. Works with Processing Supervisors to analyze and resolve issues related to efficiency, processes, material, loss and waste. Reduces juice loss impact for department by managing initiatives and daily routines of team.  Drives team toward WG/labor $ target each month through administration and accountability of work standards.
• Provides leadership to Processing employees in a manner consistent with the culture of the company. Ensures team members are treated fairly and with respect. Creates a team environment where all employees are encouraged to make a difference in meeting and exceeding customer expectations. Participates in efforts to address issues identified through climate surveys and make the Company a Best Place to Work.
• Understands career goals of employees and works with them to develop skills that will help them reach their career goals. Works to ensure that reports are developed to facilitate robust succession planning. Creates and executes a personal Career Develop Plan with manager with identified career goals and skill development needed to achieve the goals.
Qualifications/Requirements
Required Qualifications • Bachelor's Degree
• Ability to communicate with all levels of an org
• Working knowledge of MS Office Products (Word, Excel and Outlook)
• 5 years manufacturing experience in CPG or process industry
• Proven success and experience in the areas of LEAN, Continuous Improvement, and Kaizen initiatives
• Well versed in collaborating with maintenance, quality, and safety leadership to achieve processing goals.
Preferred Qualifications • Strong analytical and technical skills
• Experience with processing/batching activities
• 2 years management experience
• 2 years’ experience managing in a union environment
Salary range - $83,000 - $125,000
*Placement within the salary range is calculated based upon years of directly relatable experience for the position.
