Benefits Specialist District Business Office A position as a Benefits Specialist in the District's Business Office is available beginning as soon as possible. This is a full-time, 12-month position, with Category II Benefits Summary of Duties: Under the direction of the HR and Benefits Coordinator and the Director of Business Services, the Benefits Specialist is responsible for assisting in the management of employee benefits programs. This includes the administration of health, dental, life and long-term disability insurance programs, and workers compensation insurance. In addition, the Benefits Specialist assists with new employee orientations, flexible spending and health savings accounts, 403(b) and deferred compensation plans, severance benefits, wellness plans, COBRA, ACA compliance and processing, and employee leave tracking. Qualifications Required: Associate’s degree with emphasis in Accounting, Human Resources, Business, or equivalent experience as determined by the District. Bachelor’s degree preferred. At least two years previous work-related experience. Evidence of previous payroll and benefits experience with automated, complex payroll systems, preferred. Evidence of previous experience with flex spending and benefit administration, preferred. Evidence of excellent human relations and mathematical skills, preferred. Evidence of skill in written and verbal communication. Evidence of skill needed to be effective in customer service and orientation. Evidence of proficiency in data entry and computer skills, ex. MS Excel. Knowledge of HIPAA, COBRA, ACA, FMLA and other areas of benefits compliance.
