Position Title: Preschool Director Supervising Position: Executive Director FLSA Classification: Exempt - Full-time Date Updated: August 2024 GENERAL SUMMARY: Develops, organizes and implements a year-round high quality, state licensed Preschool Program and Preschool Summer Camp. Substitutes as a Lead Preschool Teacher, Assistant and Aide when necessary. The Preschool Director is responsible for the overall operations of a YMCA Preschool program providing quality experiences for children that focus on the core values: honesty, respect, responsibility, caring, and faith of the YMCA. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/ JOB DUTIES: 1. Manages, directs and coordinates all Preschool classrooms ensuring compliance with policies and licensing guidelines. 2. Develops and implements program curriculum and activities. 3. Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs personnel and volunteers as needed. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals. 4. Leads monthly staff meetings. 5. Organizes and implements in-services and staff trainings. 6. Develops, manages and controls program budgets along with purchases supplies and equipment. 7. Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information. May organize and schedule program registrations, and review and process program scholarship applications. 8. Practices continuous quality improvement, evaluating the Preschool Program and implementing changes as needed. 9. Develops and maintains a relationship with the state childcare licensing agency. Responds to all agency, parent and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner. 10. Maintains required records and files for the State of Minnesota and the YMCA. 11. Models relationship-building skills and ensures a high level of customer service in all interactions. 12. Ensures that observations and evaluations of each child are completed 13. Work with lead teachers to ensure proper staffing and ratios within the program are met at all times 14. Participates in organizational staff meetings and provides member tours if needed. 15. Performs other duties as assigned by Executive Director. 16. Follow all YMCA policy and procedures including Child Abuse Prevention. Has the functional and technical knowledge and skills required to perform well; uses best practices and demonstrates up-to-date knowledge and skills in technology. QUALIFICATIONS : 1. Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent to meet Minnesota DHS Rule 3 Director qualifications as well as teacher qualifications. 2. Two years related experience preferred, as a coordinator or supervisor. 3. CPR, First Aid, AED certifications, Child Abuse prevention training, and Abusive Head Trauma training. (YMCA Provided) 4. Excellent interpersonal communication skills. 5. A commitment to working with children in a developmental setting and a sincere desire to have a meaningful effect on their lives. 6. Ability to plan, organize and implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate preschool program activities. 7. Possess appropriate Class B license with Passenger Endorsement (Bus Certification). 8. Excellent skills in teaching, communication, and human relations. 9. Ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds 10. Never been convicted of any child abuse including sexual abuse. PHYSICAL DEMANDS Ability to plan, lead and participate in activities. And ability to lift heavy objects weighing up to 50lbs. Lead and participate in gym activities that may include running, throwing, kicking, and swimming.
Salary: $45.4K - $57.4K a year
