Primary Objective:
To plan and manage the Liquor Store to promote sales and achieve sales goals, profit margins and labor goals as projected. To contribute toward ensuring a positive shopping environment for customers and a positive working environment for employees.
Nature & Scope:
Primary challenge is consistently meet or exceed department sales and profit goals. Position requires comprehensive knowledge and experience in all aspects of department operations. Departmental goal setting collaborative with Director of Merchandising. Position is responsible for ongoing department planning, execution and evaluation in order to ensure maximum sales, effective cost control and efficient utilization of labor. Position requires ability to encourage individual and group effort toward department objectives and to provide training, development and work direction to employees in a consistent and supportive manner.
Principle Accountabilities:
• Establishes and manages a weekly work plan based on projected sales
• Writes part-time and full-time schedules effectively
• Determines work priorities and establishes fixed activities
Develops coordinated, aggressive and creative merchandising plans for the Liquor Store which maximize sales potential
• Decides location and size of displays and monitors integration of new and seasonal items
• Monitors and reviews customer requests for new products
• Monitors mix of demand and profit items, shelf allocation, variety of items, product movement, stock levels and schedule major resets as necessary
• Monitors product quality and checks for proper rotation
Ensures efficient utilization and effectiveness of personnel and meets or exceeds productivity standards
• Effectively communicates priorities and objectives to department personnel
• Directly assigns and supervises completion of tasks
• Coordinates sanitation efforts
• Monitors customer relations to ensure a positive shopping environment
• Ensures company and department policies and procedures are adhered to
• Ensure employee morale is at a positive level
• Reviews payroll reports
Responsible for department gross profit goals
• Ensures accurate inventory is achieved
• Supervises accuracy and organization of receiving function
• Checks credit invoices and transfer slips for accuracy and retails accurately and timely
• Reviews gross profit report weekly against receiving records, invoices and other store comparisons
• Monitors accuracy of department pricing
• Supervises damage handling procedures to control shrinkage and waste
• Monitors price sensitive items in the market area weekly to ensure aggressive pricing and is able to anticipate gross profit fluctuation
Manages loss prevention efforts for the department in order to minimize losses and to ensure safe shopping and working conditions
• Monitors and ensures all department employees are properly trained in use of potentially hazardous equipment and protective devices, maintenance and s anitation standards, proper lifting techniques and other related safe-work practices.
• Ensures all accidents are reported immediately to store management
• Observes department conditions for potential hazards and ensures proper attention is given to them
• Reviews insurance allocation reports and itemized statement of loss reports
• Ensures proper age identification checks are made for liquor sales
Consistently evaluates progress toward budgeted goals through available reports, observing conditions and personnel and reviewing the store grading sheets
• Performs personnel functions for liquor store
• Conducts orientations for new employees
• Conducts employee training using Cub Training program to ensure competence in assigned tasks and to develop personnel for possible advancement
• Conducts probationary and regular performance appraisals
• Recommends employees for advancement or special recognition
• Recommends disciplinary action for Store Manager and administers as required
• Performs other duties as assigned
