What you will do The fundamental intent of this job is to provide guidance on sales application issues, requests for unpublished option pricing, availability and technical support to the Customer/Dealer and field salespeople for products, specifications, compatibility, pricing and sales engineering issues. To promptly and accurately document essential customer specific prerequisites in order to process incoming orders while eliminating vehicle mis- builds. Additional duties include participation in customer visitations, hosting paper and pilot reviews as well as providing specification guidance. The Sales Engineer acts as the commercial conduit into the industrial organization and vice versa thus providing a steady state of sales and manufacturing for VTNA and its entities. CORE RESPONSIBILITIES: Reviews incoming quotations for, accuracy, component compatibility, feasibility, and general application. Provides specification guidance to the dealers and Volvo Group employees and organizations as required. Field sales and personnel, corporate personnel, and other internal and external sources. Maintains knowledge of a dynamic product offering and overall knowledge of products, pricing and services offered. Reviews and assists in maintaining orders for correct content for given levels of publication. Responsible for supporting dealer network with change requests. Participate in company sponsored outside activities to include truck shows, new product evaluations and additional activities as requested. Active participation in applicable training sessions and seminars as needed to maintain a steady state of knowledge and resources required to perform duties. Maintain ongoing communication with marketing, engineering, and structure as to compatibility issues, offerings, and field requests. Initiates new custom options for dealers and customers when standard offer is not suitable Solve specification problems with dealer personnel and field sales force by providing alternate options, or solutions if original are not available or applicable. Resolve order configuration errors. Confirms correctness and completeness of paint charts for custom paint schemes. Hosts customer visits, plant tours, paper and pilot review sessions, and other commercial activities as may be needed. Collaborates cross functionally with any and all appropriate Volvo Group companies and vendors. Ensures that acknowledgements are properly priced in a timely manner to maintain departmental goals and objectives. Research availability and pricing from pricing request inquiries, references engineering data or pricing matrixes to maintain complete pricing. Provide pricing for new custom options as required. Support dealers with assistance and guidance related to sales tool questions. Demonstrate customer focus in all daily activities. Perform project work as assigned. Acts as a training resource, technical leader, and a mentor to Associate Engineers. Other duties as assigned by supervisor Who are you? REQUIRED SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES: Employee must demonstrate a strong understanding of the technical aspects of the vehicle, which includes documentation systems used. Excellent oral and written communication skills are a must. Must be able to understand and implement the elements of the company's business plan. MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: The minimum education and experience requirements can be met through any one of the pathways described in the charts below. Please note: In order to meet the minimum requirements, each item listed within the pathway chart must be met. Path A Education 4 years Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical, Electrical, suitable automotive, heavy equipment, transportation related engineering or technical field.
