Description: The Taproom and Event Manager leads Schell’s Brewery's hospitality division. The Taproom and Events Manager reports to the Visitors Center General Manager and is responsible for overseeing the smooth operation of the company’s taprooms and achieving stated sales and operational goals. This position requires a high level of independence, creativity, drive, leadership skills, and personnel management experience. This position requires local travel between multiple company locations and availability on nights and weekends. The Taproom and Events Manager ensures smooth operation of the taprooms by making sure that each service location is appropriately staffed, that beer tenders have everything they need to complete their tasks successfully and efficiently, that the taproom environment is comfortable, that the beers are at their absolute best, and that unforeseen needs are addressed quickly. Duties and Responsibilities Promptly and fully informs the Visitors Center General Manager of all issues (e.g., problems, unusual matters of significance, and positive events) and takes prompt corrective action where necessary or suggests alternative courses of action. At all times, provide a favorable image of August Schell Brewing Company to promote its Core Values. Manage, schedule, lead, and support staff and bar lead teams at each taproom location Develop strategies to achieve company sales targets and operational goals Collaborate with the marketing department to drive community events, programs, and activations that increase brand awareness and customer foot traffic Manage costs by annual operating plan for taproom locations Work with General Manager and the marketing department to drive private event revenue Evaluate staffing needs, including interviewing, orienting, training, scheduling, coaching, and performance management; communicate job expectations; plan and enforce policies and procedures; and serve as a backup and liaison to the General Manager. Ensure a safe, secure, and healthy facility environment by establishing, following, and enforcing sanitation standards and procedures and complying with health and legal regulations. Drive guest satisfaction by monitoring, evaluating, and auditing food, beverage, and service offerings; initiating improvements; building relationships with preferred customers Assist the General Manager in the Coordination of music, food trucks, and trolley schedule Plan and manage private events, including timelines/schedule, logistics, and on-site execution Assist with the planning and implementation of our large annual special events Communicate with staff about upcoming events, specials, operational changes, and other relevant updates and information Comply with and enforce all federal, state, county, and municipal regulations regarding the restaurant, health and safety, and personnel. Ensure all equipment and property is kept clean and in good working condition through inspections and preventative maintenance programs Enforce strong cash handling and reconciliation procedures. Fill in for taproom staff to ensure efficient operations and guest service standards are met. Performs other duties as assigned. Requirements: Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent; bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred (i.e., marketing, hospitality, business management, or other applicable area of study) Three or more years of prior management experience in a restaurant or hospitality setting Familiarity with budgets, sales goals, and forecasts Strong verbal and written communication skills Excellent customer service skills Ability to handle multiple complex tasks at the same time Basic math skills and ability to use a POS system, ability to operate a computer, and proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (including Outlook, Word, and Excel) Must have a telephone or other reliable communication method with all employees. Must be accessible for emergencies during operational hours of Taprooms/Events. Must have access to reliable transportation for traveling between company locations Company car available for administrative tasks and errands Able to work 40 hours per week, including nights and weekends; ability to work extended flexible hours necessary to manage and operate taproom and events effectively. Must be able to work in a standing position for long periods and be able to frequently lift loads greater than 50 - 100 pounds with assistance Must be 21 years or older.
Salary: $50K - $63.3K a year
